103 Tasting Notes
backlog
I was looking through my tasting notes and noticed I never entered a rating nor a new note on this one. I have been taking the little packages of this tea to work and it brews beautifully in my libre travel mug. I throw a very small amount of leaves into the bottom of my travel mug and fill with hot water (yes I leave the leaves there for a couple of hours and it’s fine) Brewed this way, it tastes like a nice fragrant dark oolong, probably doesn’t do this tea justice but it works really well for me at work!!
So so good. Throat is getting much better, nose is still a little stuffed but I wanted something other than strong black tea. Went for a big pot of this tea…wow I can actually taste and sort of smell the “roasted” oolong notes. Although my tealog doesn’t show it this is a teas that I drink all the time. I bumped the rating up because of the three wuyi rock teas I have tried so far this is the most fragrant and is my favourite (although all three are very nice).
Made a pot of this orange cinnamon decaf black so that I can add honey and almond milk to it for my throat. I probably added too much honey in it (I usually only add a bit of milk) cause the honey is overpowering the tea or it could be that I can’t taste things as well due to the cold/cough. Nevertheless great to have around!
Backlog
Ok I didn’t realize I had never written a tasting note for this. Since I have none of this tea left that I had purchased a small bag of, I figured this was the best time as any to write about it. The dry leaf the tea smells kind of like bubblegum! I am assuming it is because of the grenadine flavoring. The tea was a bit sweet for me. It reminded me of fruity flavoured kids cough syrup with a medium black base and although I didn’t dislike it…it wasn’t something I would regularly stock either. My coworker was telling me how much her mom loved it so I gave the rest of my bag to a better home:)
Ok I wanted something different from English Breakfast so I brewed a cup of this haha :)
Funny thing is with this sore throat the teas don’t taste that different even though I know they really are a bit different. Of course I added honey and almond milk to this too. If anything at least I will be hydrated. This is a really finely cut Irish breakfast tea so you need a very fine mesh filter or even a paper tea sac filter. This is nice strong and dark tea.
Preparation
This is a good basic English breakfast tea. I have been drinking tea non stop and have been comsuming anything that I could add honey to because of my sore throat :( Anyways I made a small pot of this delicious black tea after I got off work at 3pm. Bonus is there is no caffeine (or almost none). This tea is always stocked in my tea cupboard!
