155 Tasting Notes
Good (early) morning Steepster. I’ve been a little overwhelmed with work so haven’t been around much. I’ve been drinking tea but not writing much about it. This was a sample I got when I discovered Yezi’s sample promotion (3 free samples if you pay $2.95 shipping!). I went in search of their Jin Jun Mei, and I got it, this one and their Jin Pin.
I don’t get the smoke Yezi mentions for this tea, but I do get a little tobacco bite at the back end of the sip. This won’t be a morning tea for me, but is perfect for the afternoon. What comes through the most for me is sweet harmony. Like the Everly Brothers (and RIP Phil): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTYe9eDqxe8

Well dadgummit. This was gonna be the ONE. The one to change my mind about flavored/fruity teas. When it appeared in the Teeny Tiny TTB thanks to jump62359, I “jumped” on it (sorry) because: French! Cinnamon! I thought it would be really accessible one for me to try.
Alas, this is just Not. My. Thing. I think it’s the apple. It was nicely balanced and the cinnamon wasn’t overwhelming and I can see how flavored tea lovers would really like this.
I don’t think it would be fair for me to rate this and bring down the rating so I won’t.
This was good! But yeah, a bit too much fruit. I couldn’t have it on its own and I tampered with the flavour a lot so the result was something that wasn’t the tea at all.
I have like a wee bit of this tea left. Going to see if having it iced would make any difference :)
Sipping on this tea on this RAINY early afternoon. Texas is parched y’all – we needed this rain so very much. I’m grateful to be sitting on my porch swing while it rains and drinking this tea.
Yes it is – not as bad as some places in Texas. The lakes that supply us are really low and the flows into them are historically low. But this has been a nice rain event. Can’t make myself go back in the house. I’ve missed real rain.
Just read Brenden’s note about getting to go home to Michigan and it inspired me to make a big ole cup of this. I thought it was gonna be a sipdown, but it looks like I have one more big cup left to enjoy. I love this tea MUCH!
So Brenden, in your honor, here’s some Johnny Horton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkrfvjrr1Yk
My mom dated one of the Everly Brothers (she is from Muhlenburg Co).
They sang like naughty angels – that perfect harmony. Love them.
