58 Tasting Notes
This was my first experience with a Gen Mai Cha type tea. I had been thinking about trying it for a while. This tea is blended really well. It reminded me a lot of the Soba Cha Deep Roast from Steepster but not as strong. The tea all blends well together and provides a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Preparation
I brewed a hot cup of this last night, it was good. Not one of my favorites but still solid. I think I enjoy dessert black teas rather than fruity ones. When it comes to fruit I prefer it to be mixed with greens or whites. Anyway.
The loose leaf is dark, rolled and aromatic. A sweet, balanced blend of both fruity and black tea flavors. The blue corn flowers provide a pop of color that adds a certain beauty. I’m a sucker for corn flowers though.
The taste itself is nice. This is a great choice if you really like fruity black teas this would be a good choice. It features strong passion fruit flavors that equate with the bitterness of the black tea base.
Preparation
This tea was absolutely delicious. By far one of my favorite black teas. The vanilla flavor was well balanced with the black tea and the caramel undertones accompanied both beautifully. It’s a great dessert tea as well as a great relaxation tea.
Preparation
This sencha was a lot less vegetal than i’m used to. It also brewed a bit golden, which surprised me because a lot of times sencha brews a nice spring green color. It was a decent tea, not my favorite sencha but not bad by any means. If you want to get into sencha but don’t like the strong earthy flavors that can come with it, this is a great tea for you.
Preparation
I really enjoyed the Formosa Oolong from Simple Loose Leaf. It was a super mild taste but flavorful enough to keep you interested. It brews really nicely into a golden brown color and would be great for a relaxing tea. I had mine unsweetened and it was just fine in my opinion. I would certainly buy this in the future.
Preparation
This was a delicious tea, especially if you enjoy peaches. The peach flavor is strong but not overbearing, it is most likely a DELICIOUS iced tea. I drank it hot and unsweetened. In my opinion it doesn’t need any sweetener at all, whites are almost naturally sweet and with the additional peaches it almost works as a dessert tea.
Preparation
I enjoyed this iced and with about a teaspoon of honey and it was still way too tart for me. If you enjoy tart, citrusy flavors then this is the tea for you! It brews to a nice ruby red color and really possesses a plethora of flavors. You can drink it iced or hot, I preferred to try it iced because I really like my herbals iced more so than hot.
Preparation
This is a very relaxing tea. The tulsi is accompanied well by mint and lemon flavoring and is great right before bed! It reminded me a lot of the “sleepy” teas you can find at your grocery store, just a little better quality.
Preparation
This tea was good but I didn’t find it particularly memorable. It possessed the earthy tones of a classic pu’erh, although quite mild in my opinion. The fruit naturally sweetened the cup but I didn’t get a good sense of the tropical flavors that give this tea the name Pu’erh Tahiti.
Preparation
This was a good straight rooibos. I drank it without any milk or sweetener, I usually don’t particularly like rooibos tea but this was a bit more mild than most rooibos i’ve had. I think it’s a great starting point for people who want to explore the world of rooibos tea.
