drank Grape Expectations by DAVIDsTEA

I had this as a to-go cup today while at the mall and I loved it! The tea smells very sweet and fruity when dry and I was worried it would overpower the green tea- the two however worked harmoniously and worked to balance the tea. When steeped, the grape smell comes off mildly and beautifully. The bitterness of the green tea comes through in both the taste and smell of the tea. I was really happy with the fact that the flavouring was mild enough that the tea still came through as I am a big fan of green tea (I love the sour/bitter taste). The grape taste comes through at the end of the sip along with floral notes and is very smooth. I will be picking up some of this before it goes away!

drank Hibiscus Punch by DAVIDsTEA

I finally got around to trying this tea and am glad I did. When dry, the smell of the tea is very similar to The Glow. It smells strongly of cinnamon and mildly of apple- even thought there are no apples it in. When steeped, the tea turns a beautiful fuchsia colour. The tea is warm, slightly fruity, and has a sour note to it. I look forward to trying this tea iced as well during the summer. I think it would be really nice with the sour and fruity notes with a touch of agave.

drank Peaches & Cream by DAVIDsTEA

This was another one of the new ones my mom surprised me with yesterday. I tried it for the first time last night. When I smelled the dry tea, I didn’t get the chemical smell which a lot of other people noted. What I did notice however was that this tea is mostly made up of dried fruit pieces and has no form of tea in it. When steeped, my tea turned a light yellow-orange colour and smelled like peach and mildly of vanilla. I really do like peach teas however this one did fall a little flat. The peach is definitely not as strong as it is in other teas like Long Life Oolong but is a nice alternative for people who aren’t crazy about peach. I would recommend trying it for yourself. I will have no problem finishing the bag she bought for me and would also like to try it iced but will be in no rush to re-stock- nor would I be devastated if they chose not to bring it back next year.

drank Blue Lagoon by DAVIDsTEA

I was thrilled when I got home today and my mom surprised me with a few of the new teas! (Thanks mom!) and after smelling those that she had picked up, I decided this would be the first one I had to try. The dry smell is very sweet. The pineapple intermingles with the smell of the blueberries which makes the fruity smell intoxicating. When steeped, the blueberry smell becomes more apparent and the pineapple is still detectable in the background. When steeped, the tea takes on a grey-blue colour before turning purple. The tea itself is very sweet and for me, the taste of the pineapple came through more than that of the blueberries- I definitely wouldn’t add any sweetener as it is already sweet enough. If you like fruity teas, pineapple and blueberries, I definitely recommend this tea! I look forward to trying this iced as well!

I tried this when I visited David’s Tea yesterday. This is a tea which I have wanted to try since it first came out. I have to say that I was pretty disappointed with this one. I found the orange to be very sirupy and the tea was overly sweet (I didn’t even add any type of sweetener.) The tea left a weird aftertaste in my mouth as well. I can’t see myself wanting to try this again.

drank Mint To Be (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

I’m excited to say that this was the 130th tea I’ve tried from David’s Tea! I’m also excited to say that it was a really enjoyable cup of tea! Like other reviews have mentioned, the peppermint is definitely more overpowering than the coconut. The coconut makes the blend more creamy than a simple peppermint blend (it really makes it taste like the centre of a peppermint patty). This was a smooth blend and was really easy to drink (even later in the day). The dry leaves smell almost entirely of peppermint- which would be expected after seeing the ratio of peppermint to black tea and coconut in the blend. The taste is really true to the smell so if you like the way it smells you would probably also enjoy the taste. I will have no problem finishing the 20g sample I bought yesterday and will pick up a bit more to have on hand once that’s done. Overall really enjoyable.

drank Cherry Blossom by DAVIDsTEA

I’m so glad that this one came back as I didn’t get a chance to try it last time it was out!!! I picked up about $3 worth of this and mint to be (which I will be tasting and logging very shortly) on my visit in today. I also had this as a to-go cup. Overall, the dry tea seems to take on a more fruity note with the floral in the background. When steeped, both the aroma and taste highlight the floral notes. I found that the fruit really comes in with a sourness later on in the sip which lingers on for a while. I think this tea is well balanced and that the fruit and the floral really play on each other to enhance the tea. I would compare this to love tea #7. I found that tea also has a strong interplay between fruit and floral. This tea however is much lighter than the love tea (my guess is because it is a white tea vs. a black tea and also because of the chocolate in the love tea)- I think I do prefer Cherry Blossom due to it’s lightness. I will have no problems finishing my sample and will hopefully have time to re-stock before it disappears again! I also want to quickly mention that the longer the tea steeps, the stronger the sourness seems to be so for a more floral cup, I would go for a lighter steep-time and vice-versa.

This has been on my list for the past year and I finally tried it for the first time on Monday! I’ve been fighting a flu since late last week and stocked up on a few teas to help me get through it. Of course, Cold 911 was on my list and so was Super Ginger. I picked up about 30g of this the other day and was unsure about it due to its very overpowering smell. I do have to say that when steeped, the smell mellows out and the taste is much less impactful than I had expected (which was a relief). This tea has a nice spice to it from the peppercorns and the ginger lends a citrusy note which wakes up the blend. When I’m sick, I tend to have a hard time selecting foods and drinks which don’t upset my stomach. The ginger in this tea seemed to soothe my upset stomach and the warmth was relieving for my throat as well. I would definitely drink this tea again but probably would only reach for it when I am sick (i.e: It’s not a tea which I would want to drink all the time).

I hope you feel better soon. And I agree—I wouldn’t reach for this when I’m feeling well too.

drank Chai On Life by DAVIDsTEA

I had a cup of this the other day while at the mall. I tried this as a sample when I first walked in the store and this was enough to entice me into trying a full cup. I was really pleased with this tea; although to me it doesn’t overly scream “chai”. I found it to be much lighter than many other chai teas I have had over the years and the spices are definitely not as overwhelming. It is very warm from the spices yet, the lemongrass gives it a lighter citrus note and makes it almost, dare I say it, refreshing to drink. I would definitely try this tea again and would encourage those of you who are interested to give it a try as well. This is not something I can see myself craving and wanting to drink all the time (and therefore will probably not be rushing out for a tin) but I think every once in a while this would be a nice tea to sip on.

TheKesser

I absolutely love my chai. I’m thinking I may have to try this one too. :)

drank Pure Vanilla by DAVIDsTEA

This tea was definitely one that I never plan to have again! The woman who was working there said that she found it tasted similar to a white freezie but honestly, I found it to be very bitter and the rooibos, quite woody. I disliked this tea so much that I was not even able to finish my to-go cup and poured about 3/4 of it down the drain. Very disappointing :(

TheKesser

I didn’t find my cup of this to be bitter, but I must agree I didn’t care for this one either. I didn’t really get any vanilla flavour from it at all… very disappointing indeed.

MooKiwi

Ya no vanilla there whatsoever! It is hard to even try to explain the flavour of this one…just very bizarre!

Profile

Bio

I am a tea fanatic and have also recently made the transition from vegetarian to vegan! I always have tea in my hand and in my overflowing cupboard!

I prefer black, green and white teas. I have recently discovered mate and oolongs. So far I’ve enjoyed them however, I have not tried very many. I am not often a fan of rooibos as I tend to find them overly woody but have found there to be some exceptions. As for herbals, I am only recently beginning to drink these on a regular basis (mostly iced) as the weather gets warmer, but these I am willing to try. I have not yet developped the taste for pu’erh.

I tend to only rate and review the teas I drink once (maybe twice if my opinion REALLY changes; especially if I were to have them prepared a different way). I currently only use Steepster for logging my reviews of David’s Tea although I do drink teas from many different companies. Every time I visit the store, I try something new in a cup to-go as I enjoy going through the tea menu and marking off teas as I try them. My goal is to try them all!

My rating system is as follows:
90-100: Wecome to my permanent collection! (worthy of a 100g tin!)

75-90: Definetly would drink again but maybe not all the time. I would buy a small amount (50g or less) to have once in a while.

50-75: I will finish the cup but not my favourite.

25-50: I will try to finish the cup but may not be able to.

0-25: Not my cup of tea…down the sink we go!
