I got a sample of this when I stopped by today in-between classes. Normally, as you would know if you’ve seen some of my previous reviews, I am not at all a fan of pu’erh tea. But, I will admit that this one was actually enjoyable! I think the fact that the black tea is mixed into the pu’erh really helps to make it less fishy/oily and more full-bodied. I would definitely drink this tea again and would recommend it as a good “starter pu’erh” for anyone trying to drink more of that type of tea for the benefits who is not a fan of the taste.

I can’t believe that I waited so long to try this one! I finally tried this last night and was pleasantly surprised. The dry blend smells EXACTLY like a piña colada! I was shocked to find out that there were apples, mango and anise in this because all that you smell is the pineapple and a bit of the coconut. I had this warm and forgot to take my tea bag out until I was halfway done drinking it (oops!). I noticed that the longer it steeped, the more apple comes through which contributes a sour note to the tea (similarly to how it comes through with Movie Night). If you like piña coladas, I would recommend steeping this for maybe 2 or 3 minutes at most- but if the more fruity and sour blend is what you prefer, steep it longer. I’m excited to try this iced as well as I think that it may taste even more tropical then. A great alternative to a tropical drink (but with way less calories!).

Yay 1st review! I got this one as a sample when I visited today and really liked it. With flu-season rapidly approaching, I think this is one to have on hand. This tea, even warm, was very refreshing and hydrating. It had a slight spice but also a few citrusy notes. I would compare it to Gail’s Organic Cold Remedy and Cold 911 but will say that it is lighter than both of those due to the citrusy notes.

I was excited to try this tea but after having tried it, I find myself relieved that I didn’t buy any! This one was just weird and reminded me of those awful cinnamon hearts that you see everywhere around valentines day or even cinnamon gum (which I don’t recommend either by the way!). This one was definitely cinnamon-y but the lack of other flavours left me wanting more. As I got near the bottom of the cup, it became sweeter and sweeter and tasted syrupy…. which made me glad that I didn’t add anything to it. I think it could be better as a latte but I’m not overly willing to give it a try. Fall is my favourite season but so far, the fall collection has not really captured it for me. Hope their winter collection is better!

I was unsure about this tea but was really excited when I got a sample of it during my visit to the store today. The cranberry adds a sourness to the tea as well as a very fruity note which is somewhat unexpected in a fall tea. I found it to be very similar to Kanpe tea which leads me to believe that it could also be really good iced. So far, this is the fall tea which I’ve enjoyed the most and which I’ve enjoyed the most. SPOILER ALERT: When I was speaking with the woman there today, she told me that they have two new pumpkin teas which will be released in the next couple of weeks (a rooibos and a black tea I believe). As someone who can’t drink pumpkin chai, I am excited for these! :)

Yay first review! I picked up a to-go cup of this today on my way home. The dry blend smells strongly of cinnamon and blueberry; however when steeped, it really loses the blueberry taste after a while. The blueberry flavour does taste artificial and is really similar to the blueberry flavour in their Blueberry Jam tea. Similarly to their Cinnamon Roibos, I found that this tea also had a very syrupy texture and flavour. Overall, I think the tea was just OK. It was drinkable but not enough for me to want to try it again and not enough for me to say I recommend it either.

drank Maple Sugar by DAVIDsTEA

Out of all the fall teas, this one is the one I was most excited about tasting… and so far, is the one which left me most disappointed. I LOVE maple syrup and could drink it right out of the bottle…unfortunately that is what I wanted to do after drinking this tea in order to get some taste of maple. The dry smell of this tea is definitely better than how it smells after about 2 mins of steeping- at that point it smells like oatmeal (I’m actually not joking about that…). I was able to finish the cup but wouldn’t recommend this one and will not be trying this one again. Trust me and save yourself from the aftertaste.

drank Sweet Apple Cider by DAVIDsTEA

I was very excited to receive a sample of this during their promotion a couple of weeks ago and it was only today that I actually got around to trying this. Compared to previous apple flavoured teas, I did find this one to be the most “apple-y”… but almost to a point that it came across as artificial. I can’t say I would be disappointed if this one did not return next year but I would recommend trying it while it’s around. I will probably enjoy another cup of this before it’s gone though.

YAY! I guess I’m the first person to actually review this one! So, here it goes: I had this one iced today and can’t wait to try it warm as well. I love pomegranate so when I saw that this one was coming out I was looking forward to trying it out. The dry blend smells quite fruity and the pomegranate is very detectable. The liquid is very bright red which helps it to stay true to the pomegranates’ natural colour. The fruity component helps to add sweetness followed by a sour note towards the end of the sip. I would recommend this one and plan to pick up 50g of it myself.

CHAroma

So does it really taste like pomegranate? Or is it a mixture of fruit flavors?

MooKiwi

I found that it really did taste like pomegranate but there are some milder fruity notes as well.

CHAroma

Okay cool, thanks!

I tried this tea the other day due to the strong recommendation it received by a staff member. The smell of the dry tea was very sweet and fruity and that is what I had expected the tea itself to taste like. This tea failed to deliver the flavour and left me disappointed. The flavour was VERY mild and barely detectable- it actually tasted like the tea had been watered down. I wouldn’t recommend this tea as it simply fails to deliver.

Bio

I am a tea fanatic and have also recently made the transition from vegetarian to vegan! I always have tea in my hand and in my overflowing cupboard!

I prefer black, green and white teas. I have recently discovered mate and oolongs. So far I’ve enjoyed them however, I have not tried very many. I am not often a fan of rooibos as I tend to find them overly woody but have found there to be some exceptions. As for herbals, I am only recently beginning to drink these on a regular basis (mostly iced) as the weather gets warmer, but these I am willing to try. I have not yet developped the taste for pu’erh.

I tend to only rate and review the teas I drink once (maybe twice if my opinion REALLY changes; especially if I were to have them prepared a different way). I currently only use Steepster for logging my reviews of David’s Tea although I do drink teas from many different companies. Every time I visit the store, I try something new in a cup to-go as I enjoy going through the tea menu and marking off teas as I try them. My goal is to try them all!

My rating system is as follows:
90-100: Wecome to my permanent collection! (worthy of a 100g tin!)

75-90: Definetly would drink again but maybe not all the time. I would buy a small amount (50g or less) to have once in a while.

50-75: I will finish the cup but not my favourite.

25-50: I will try to finish the cup but may not be able to.

0-25: Not my cup of tea…down the sink we go!
