drank Chai Matcha by DAVIDsTEA

I am not a matcha person, something about the powderedness is un-tea like to me. Skysamurai sent me this one and I thought I’d try it out. At first sip this is too sweet for me. And at second sip. But there is some nice cinnamon and warming clove going on here too. I’d drink this for a morning caffeine boost, but its not going to find its way into my shopping cart.

drank Mango Lemon Balm by Teeccino

If you have a lot of imagination you might get some lemon balm at the end and just a hint of mango sweetness. This is mostly chicory with a bright lemon zest finish. Can’t say I’d search this one out, but it was good to try in the advent.

Flavors: Chicory, Lemon Zest

Well the reviews for this tea are a bit underwhelming, but I liked it! A black tea base without bitterness or astringency along with vanilla cereal flavoring. Maybe I didn’t expect a lot from this flavored blend, but I liked the second steep so much I tried for a third. Which was weaker, but still drinkable. I give it a thumbs up for drinking again, maybe not to seek out and purchase :)
Thanks to Skysamurai for sending it my way!

Advent tea!
It is baking season and this tea is the real deal vanilla taste. Vanilla buttercream with a hint of oak from the bourbon flavor? A smooth Assam underneath the creamy vanilla goodness. Wow this is a nice one, thank Lexie!

Flavors: Butterscotch, Cream, Oak, Vanilla

They (I think) carry this locally at our Natural Grocers. Kinda pricey, so I was reluctant to make that kind of investment in an unknown. Now I know!

I thought you might enjoy this one. I saw somewhere that someone said it was comparable to the Mariage Freres vanilla black tea. I’ve never tried that one though. This one was sold out for a long time on the website and at my local grocery store but after quite a bit of hunting, I was able to snag some from my local Fredmeyer. It was worth it though!

Sometimes the tea tastes even better when there is effort involved!

gmathis

That’s true!

Ooo sounds like I need to track down some of this one too!

drank Maple Pecan by Teeccino

Teeccino blends are not for the feint of heart, they are bold, earthy and have plenty of chicory to lend a bit of a bite. If you are good with that, carry on and try to distinguish the subtle flavors of the different blends. A sweet maple aftertaste? Yes. Pecan… maybe? Would I drink this again? Sure. Add it to an order, maybe.

Yay, advent season is here. Thanks Lexie for this nice mellow start to a month of tea! This one is savory and mossy without any bitterness. A good example of rolled green tea that opens into huge leaves.

Flavors: Grassy, Savory

Yes, so exciting! My first year participating on Advent. Hope you have fun. You definitely had a unique name to try today.

Sounds like a fun tea!

Another tea I picked up at Simpson and Vail and I like this one! A bit nutty to start and coppery and malty to finish. Very little astringency to this cup, it would blend well with other black teas. I must say this is my second favorite awesome tea from S&V, and I’d be tempted to purchase more if Beesakopie remains out of stock.

Someday I want to learn the proper pronunciation of all these interesting tea estates!

This one brews up brightly with less leaf than I normally use. It is easy to get a dark and bitter cup, so while I won’t mind sipping this down, it’s not something I would purchase again. An impulse buy from S&V but not one I’ll reach for very often.

gmathis

Noted. I’ll keep some milk handy when I try your sample!

A few of the teas in the NP sampler have been meh for me, but this one has a nice balance. A little sweet from the raspberry and a little savory from the sage. It all blends together nicely and it seems I have chosen a good way to start the holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

There is something mossy but sharp about this blend. Chicory and spearmint and apple don’t seem like they blend together, but this is quite drinkable. S&V Author blends are a bit hit or miss with me, and this one is a hit. If it were earlier in the day it might inspire me to get out for a walk, but I’ll just have to conjure this blend in my mind to get me outside tomorrow when the sun is out!

I started drinking more tea about 10 years ago when I found that even my half -caf coffee was making me jittery and then sleepy after the caffeine wore off. While I started out with mostly Teavana, but soon expanded my tea cupboard to include lapsang souchon, pu-erh, Assam, and other strong black teas. I do enjoy oolongs, green, and other teas, as well as a nice tisane for an evening cuppa.
I’m not fond of jasmine or bergamont teas, though I’ll try anything once.
I am an avid traveler, hiker, soccer player/watcher.
I love trying new tea in new places, if you see something in my cupboard you want to try, hit me up for a swap!
