drank Mango & Banana by Jaf Tea
1846 tasting notes

This tea is actually better than I have expected.

I don’t know if the mango and papaya flavours are right; but certainly some fruit ones which are tropical. I mean, it was quite similar to banana and mango, but not distinctive enough to say: Oh, have I took a bite of banana/mango? But it is flavoured just right (and not feeling artificial) and base tea is still very present too, although no notes from tea itself. Not tannic or astringency, but without it it would be somehow bland.

Quite surprised with this one.

Apparently this tea lost its nutty flavour it got when fresh.

But still, it is exceptional black tea which don’t turn bitter even prepared grandpa with freshly boiled water.

Yes, that’s how I prepared it! Took two pinches into my favourite tall glass cup, and… boiling water in.

It was more malty than usual, although still very fine tea; simple drinker today. I was not paying too much attention too today. Now, I have one tea for one last cup or last gaiwan. Or I will send it elsewhere? I am haven’t decided yet. Maybe I should pick another pouch as it is still quite cheap (2 US dollars per 20 grams, or 6 US dollars per 100 g) Hmm, decisions, decisions… I still remember how I was nervous last time and getting it home. Is it worth it?

Now I am sad with this SIPDOWN.

It is truly amazing tea; with bold malty characher, but there are as well some fruit notes, mostly grapes. Grape, malty jam tea :) Even prepared grandpa — 6 grams per 300 ml.

I think I wrote enough about this tea already, derk wrote a lot of impressions as well…

Now it is time to buy new packet and send a sample to ashmanra to hear another tea lover thoughts about this tea. Same with dreamloomer.

I will able to get it next Thursday, so if anyone is interested in somehow small tea swap (as well across the ocean), I can put this one in as well :)

drank Spring Kiss by Sonnentor
1846 tasting notes

I got this tea bag in huge bags stash and as it is called “Spring kiss” I have decided to find out how they imagine spring.

Lemongrassy and pretty minty. Not a bad blend, actually it is pretty tasty and not bland. Or simple herbal flavour. Nah!

Hmm, surprising treat. It is not for high-end drinking, but as a daily drinker I can imagine it!

I decided to give this one another chance.

Today I used colder water and… well I am not that sure if it was better singificantly. The base was even weaker and this time cloves and cinnamon were way more present. But somehow it tasted all together watery, and pretty meh.

Wasn’t impressed even this time…

I am sad about this one… prepared it twice in 3 days, but not impressed for first try nor second attempt.

Rather than almonds I notice only marzipan. I know that marzipan is only from almonds. But it is too sweet somehow, and base teas… well the black tea is boring and roasted green tea (hojicha probably) is not present at all.

I was expected maybe more other nuts as well; not only almonds.

Flavors: Marzipan, Sweet

I believe this is one extra samples as a sorry they run out of different tea I have ordered.

Oolong, peppermint, cocoa shells. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was kind of sceptical when I saw it. I thought it won’t work. Mint and cocoa shells are so different flavours…

But it is quite delicious! Nice milky oolong base, which makes creamy flavour, peppermint do the refreshing taste and cocoa… makes it sweet somehow? It reminded me After Eight chocolates and although cocoa was quite weak, I can imagine less peppermint and more cocoa – it was nice. Perfect for morning tea.

Sounds delicious! With a plain Hershey’s chocolate bar would be even better! (Are those available in your part of the world?)

Martin Bednář

It wasn’t certainly bad! Now and then they Hershey’s chocolate appear here, but overpriced; so I haven’t tried them yet.

Hey! I know that I had filled the mug with too hot water! Please forgive me that! I was lazy to wait.

Anyway, it wasn’t bad; but from dry aroma I have expected more to be honest. Cloves are nice and present in dry aroma, as well sage and pomergranate and green apples.

But taste was dismal; I wonder if too hot water killed all the flavours? It was very nice green tea base but cloves and apple almost completely disappeared. And that long bubble-gum aftertaste was really weird too.

Flavors: Apple, Cloves, Grass

I wasn’t a fan of this one, either.

I can’t say I am not a fan, but probably expected more.

Yaay, month later my Bird & Blend Tea Co. order finally here! They run of few tea bags I have ordered (I didn’t wanted to order sample package and I needed something to my collection)

Anyway; this is probably I was looking most forward to. Dunno why, raspberries + black tea sounded bit too sour, moreover coconut in – it is bit crazy blend; then raspberry leaves…

But it looks so lovely, maybe that was why I have decided to order it?

Anyway to the tea:
I had to mix the blend, otherwise I would get only raspberries and no tea. Shaking it inside pouch caused raspberries to break into individual seeds, but few bigger pieces are there too.

The dry leaf is not very aromatic; but brewed tea after 4-5 minutes was quite pungent.
Definitely I noticed herbal notes and raspberries, then with drinking I noticed creamy flavour and light sour notes – but pleasant. Raspberries too, and luckily no coconut. The base tea was present too, which I always enjoy in flavoured black teas and certainly it wasn’t overpowering the flavours.

In conclusion indeed fine tea, maybe I have expected more cake flavours, but certainly it was tasty and very enjoyable. Somehow simple, but very tasty for sure.
