429 Tasting Notes
I found this at a British speciality store yesterday in Freeport. Its really a very nice assam tea. Its brisk, robust and malty. The tea is more astringent than the assam teas I have been drinking but that really doesn’t take away from the malty taste. This tea is similar to Mark T. Wendells assam and doesn’t compare at all to Mountain Malt. This tea would make a great addition to a blend for iced tea.
Preparation
Contrary to popular belief, I do drink bagged teas. Twinings has a few that I drink. I do like Lady Grey, it has the bergamot of an EG and lemon and orange zest. Sometimes in the mornings I’m so groggy that its very hard to make loose leaf tea so I use a bag. Lady Grey is mellow, tasty, not bitter and little to no astringency. I really like it.
Preparation
This is a very nice robust , brisk assam tea. It has no bitterness and only slight astringency. It has all the nuances of a good assam tea. The best thing about this fine tea is that it only cost me a buck sixty an ounce at the local health food store. That being said, It is no Mountain Malt, the tea that I will judge all assam teas by until I find a better one.
Preparation
I needed a strong cup of tea this afternoon and this one fits the bill. It’s robust, brisk and very bold. The tea isn’t bitter and has a little astringency. If you steep too long it does get bitter but a 3 minute steep produces a very nice cup.
