drank Earl Grey (loose leaf) by Twinings
429 tasting notes

Its nice to be back home and drinking a tea that I’m very familiar with. I guess vacations have to end some time. After the trip I think that I-95 through the northeast should be banned. Traffic was horrible and on a Saturday. Now on to the tea. Twinings Earl Grey is one of my favorites, I think it has the perfect mix of tea and bergamot. This is a very nice tea for any time of day.

drank Aged Earl Grey by Numi Organic Tea
429 tasting notes

I have been absent for about a week traveling down the east coast with my wife. We are taking our time about it. Right now I am in a Wyndham hotel in Jacksonville. They have Numi Organic Earl Grey in the room along with the usual coffee. The package says that this is Kericho Highlands Estate tea with bergamot. I decided to list it here as the package states that this is presented by Wolfgang Puck. I probably won’t see it again. This is not a bad tea, but the Numi aged is a much better tea. The bergamot is weak and this is more like a slightly flavored black tea. Its not something I would buy, but its ok for a free in-room tea. I would rate this about a 60 but i’m not going to change the rating of the Numi aged EG.

drank Paris by Harney & Sons

This is a fantastic tea. The Harney & Sons store site says this tea contains black currant, vanilla, bergamot, and caramel. I get different notes each time I have this tea. I guess it depends on the steeping time and the temp of the water. I always have this tea in my cupboard. The smell is like vanilla caramels over fruit. The taste is mellow and leaves a dry fruity taste in my mouth. No bitterness or astringency, just a delicious cup of tea.

drank Formosa Oolong by Harney & Sons

I’m not sure why I felt like Oolong this morning. This is a nice nutty toasty tasting tea. This tea is smooth w/o any bitterness or astringency. I’m getting ready to leave on vacation tomorrow and I just needed a nice relaxing tea. I’m hoping to buy more tea in various locations. I’m taking 3 weeks to drive down the east coast so if anyone knows any great tea shops along the way, please let me know.

I needed a brisk, robust, and malty tea this morning. This one sure fits the bill. The 2 1/2 minute steep time gives me the chewy taste that I need in the morning. This tea has only a tad of bitterness and astringency. A longer steep gives it too much of both.

I’m not sure why I picked this tea this morning as I’m used to breakfast teas. But I must say this tea is very earthy and and is a good wake up tea. It’s black like coffee and you can steep 3 or 4 times. The taste is mild and mellow and very relaxing. This tea has a thick heavy mouthfeel. I may do this more often.

The second and third steeps were just as good as the first. I could probably resteep until Sunday. The tea has loads of flavor.

This tea is really growing on me. Its really a mild tasty tea blend that I can drink any time of day. The tea has no bitterness or astringency that I can find. Its very smooth and light. I get plenty of yunnan and keemun notes from this tea.

drank Invigorate Assam Black by Treleela
429 tasting notes

I guess this is an ok assam but its just not as good as some assams that I have had. This tea is brisk and robust but I can’t find any wildflower notes or really any notes except some astringency. I really need to buy some good assam teas but I promised my wife I wouldn’t until after vacation. We are spending 3 weeks from Maine to Florida and she knows I will find some tea to buy. So, if anyone knows some good tea shops on the east coast, please let me know. I don’t mind driving a little out of the way. I won’t purchase any more of this tea as I would rather spend my money on excellent tea.

This is a nice bagged tea. It has that wonderful yunnan taste and is brisk, bold, and peppery. The tea is organic which is a plus and has that raisiny sugar smell that I get from a yunnan. I wish I could get caramel but alas you just can’t have everything. Still a great tea.

The tea bag is large and brews up a strong cup of tea. Its a nice replacement for coffee and is a good wake up call in the morning. This tea is very malty but lacks the nuances of a good assam or yunnan. I’m betting it will make a great iced tea. This is a much better tea than generic store bags but my favorite bagged tea still has to be Lifeboat.

This makes a great iced tea. I used 5 tea bags with 1/2 gal water and 5 splenda.
