429 Tasting Notes
I had this iced tea today while washing clothes. The supermarket had them discontinued at 50% off. This is a very good melon flavored iced white tea. It was bolder than I expected and very refreshing. Its a sweetened iced tea, but its not too sweet. I don’t do a lot of sugar so I always check for the sugar on the label.
I have been so busy lately with 3 granddaughters playing sports. I had to get in a tasting note this morning. This is a great breakfast tea. This tea is brisk and robust while being tasty and only slightly astringent. A very nice tea. This tea also supports the RLNI which is a very good cause.
Preparation
After I figured out that Twinings Irish Breakfast tasted better with a 2 minute steep, I decided to do the same with Lifeboat tea this morning. This is my second cup and even though it is a tea bag, it tastes wonderful. The tea is brisk and robust without the bitterness or too much astringency. I know that the tea in the bag is more than likely fannings, but if you use quality tea you get quality fannings. This is a very good tea as long as you don’t over steep it.
Preparation
This is a very robust brisk tea. It has loads of maltiness and will wake you in the morning. It does have some astringency. This tea will take milk easily as it is a very strong tea. I am drinking it plain after a 3 minute steep. If you steeped 5 minutes I think a spoon would stand straight up in this tea. The tea looks like grapenuts ( CTC? ). Its a nice breakfast tea and really not a bad cup. I’m going to try a 2 minute steep next time.
I just tried this tea with a 2 minute steep. It is at least 10 points better in my opinion. The bitterness and astringency are almost nil. You can even taste the assam tea in this blend. It is still brisk and robust, it just tastes much better.
Preparation
I found this at my health food store. I really like the darker tuo cha so I thought I would try it. I bought 12 buttons for only 1.60. This is a green puerh and I’m really surprised. This tea has a natural sweetness to it and is one of the best green teas I have had. I’m not normally a green tea drinker, but this tea really reminds me of an Oolong. The tea brews up a golden color much like a Darjeeling. It has a rich floral taste and a slight floral aftertaste. I like this tea.
