This is the first tea that I’ve tried from Solstice Brews, and I really enjoyed this. A nice licorice-y tone to it, and the sweet citrus-y tone from the lemongrass adds a nice contrast to the snappy flavor of the licorice. The gunpowder green tea adds a slight earthiness and a smooth, sweet flavor with hints of a smoky tone in the distance.

Contains no real absinthe I hope, that stuff can really mess you up.

LiberTEAS

No, I don’t believe it does. It’s just licorice-y like absinthe.

A really excellent Silver Needle … one of the best that I’ve tried. Crisp and clean and sweet. A really flavorful cup, but with the delicateness that I like from a Silver Needle.

Only a very slight astringency from this tea, this is more “juicy” than astringent. If you’re one who tends to shy away from astringent teas, this one should be to your liking!

Absolutely LOVE this. LOVE it. This is one of the very best black licorice-y tasting teas that I’ve tried yet, and I’m a huge fan of black licorice so when I find teas that are “black licorice-y” I usually MUST try them. This one is the best that I’ve tried. Have I mentioned that I love this tea yet?

A really good chai too, it was pleasantly spicy. The Guranse made a great base for the tea, rich and flavorful. Just … a really wonderful tea. REALLY good.

I’m sipping on a cup of this evening, it’s very soothing and calming. I’ve had a very busy, very frustrating day. My husband needed to go to the doctor, and the doctor would not address the issues that were bothering my husband, he wanted only to talk about other issues, and so tomorrow I will be spending my afternoon shopping for a new doctor. After the frustrating trip to the doctor, we ran over a metal spiky object that got lodged in our tire, which meant an hour at the tire shop. Not much went right today.

Anyway … now this tea seems to be making up for it, because it’s lovely. Sweet, beautiful, the lovely notes of a darjeeling but with the light, delicate qualities of a white tea … so wonderful.

Of all the iced tea varieties that I’ve tried thus far from SBT/52Teas … this one is probably my least favorite which pains me to say because you know how I love my earl grey.

But, while I was able to drink this tea (and I even resteeped the tea pouch after cold-brewing it for the first half-gallon of tea), it wasn’t my favorite. It was alright, but it wasn’t anything to get excited over. I felt the same disappointment that Captain Jean-Luc Picard felt.

The second infusion (hot brewing after the cold-brew) was better than the first. But it still wasn’t great. I guess they can’t all be. Right? I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it either.

I received this tea in one of my Mystery Tea Sampler’s Club envelopes. I love this club … every month I would get an envelope with three tea samples to try, and all the teas that I’ve tried thus far from Yunomi have been wonderful. Unfortunately, my subscription ended, hopefully, I will be able to renew the subscription as a christmas gift that my husband doesn’t know that he’s getting me. :)

A delicious roasty-toasty flavor, although as the name suggests, it’s a bit lighter than in a darker roasted Houjicha. Sweet and mild, with a barely noticeable astringency. A really nice cuppa.

drank Darjeeling Blend by Harney & Sons
4843 tasting notes

Backlog:

I received this tea as a sample sachet with one of my past orders. (Not my most recent order, there was no sample in that package, but I guess that’s because it was kind of a small order … a few samples as well as a tin of tea that I ordered for my oldest daughter for Christmas … one of my smallest orders placed with Harney yet. But I have SO much tea!)

Anyway … this is a really nice Darjeeling blend. The dry leaf smells sort of woodsy with some hints of earth and flower and fruity overtures. The fruity tones are somewhat muscatel-esque, with notes of currant and grape. Sweet and tangy. This is not quite as astringent as some Darjeeling teas I’ve encountered.

A pleasant cuppa.

drank Strong Earl Grey by Shanti Tea

Back when looseTman told me about this blend, I knew I had to try this. So, I contacted Shanti Tea right away (and thank you to Shanti Tea for sending me some!) Because … I had to try it. Yeah, I know I said that already. But it’s a strong Earl Grey … so you know I had to try it.

This is a remarkable Earl Grey … and after having recently found out that one of my favorite Earl Grey teas is no longer available (Superior Earl Grey from Tealicious Tea Company), I think that this may be the Earl Grey to replace it because it is AWESOME!

The bergamot is strong as the name might suggest, it has a lot of citrus TANG to it, but it doesn’t taste perfume-y. None of that icky soap-y taste. Just delicious bergamot. The kind of deliciousness that makes my toes curl as I sip. Just remembering it … is making my toes curl. I want more of this tea.

The black tea is malty and rich and this is an excellent Earl Grey! Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/07/28/strong-earl-grey-tea-from-shanti-tea/

Happy New Year LiberTEAS,
I’m very glad you thoroughly enjoyed Shanti’s Strong Earl Grey.

This is a really pretty blend! There are shimmery pearl sugar candies mixed in the blend that really give it a lot of visual appeal along with the rose petals and tea leaves. I’m not usually one who likes candy sprinkles in my tea, but I thought that the pearly dragees were lovely in this.

A really tasty blend … and one of the more unique “Royal Wedding” type blends that I’ve tasted. I liked it.

I’d much rather drink a caffeinated version of a tea than a decaffeinated variety, and I know I’ve said that more than once before. Even some of the best decaffeinated teas … they still taste a wee bit thin and just a bit off. There are some exceptions to this (Vanilla Comoro comes to mind immediately.)

And while this a wee bit thinner in texture than what I might experience from a typical Jasmine green, it’s still a really good tea and I would say it’s one of the better decaf teas I’ve tried.

I am obsessed with tea!

I am a co-founder of the SororiTEA Sisters:

The reason I’m no longer writing for SororiTea Sisters is because I am now the Mad Tea Artist for 52Teas:

http://52teas.com

I’ll still be posting occasional reviews on teas here on Steepster, mostly backlogged reviews because I’m way behind on getting reviews posted. That’s why I’m keeping two accounts active at the current time – so that I can get those backlogged reviews posted.

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination, which is why I was very excited to be the Mad Tea Artist of 52Teas!
