4843 Tasting Notes
Backlog:
Not quite Matcha … for one thing, it’s from Taiwan rather than Japan, for another, true matcha has a different flavor: It’s softer, sweeter, and a bit more on the “buttery” side. This has more of a sharpness to it, with a more pronounced bitter-sweet quality. It is slightly astringent, with an almost citrus-y finish.
But, I still quite enjoyed this. It is an invigorating “matcha” like drink, with a strong vegetative presence and a smooth, creamy texture. I like the revitalizing feeling I get from this … very reminiscent to Matcha!

I love that autumn has finally arrived. I love the chill in the air, I don’t even mind that up here in the Pacific NorthWET it rains more than it shines this time of year. I love it.
And this tea … seems the perfect way to welcome autumn. It is rich and warm with smoky tones and so inviting. I like that the smoky tones are there but they aren’t in my face. It’s smoky but not too much. It’s a rich, full-flavored cuppa with enjoyable caramel-y undertones.
A really nice tea. I’m glad I got the opportunity to try it.
Backlog:
Not a bad version of Earl Grey. I liked this quite a bit. I like how this tea really focuses on the citrus-y notes of the bergamot (yes, I am aware that it is a citrus fruit, but its one of the more complex citrus fruits out there, wouldn’t you agree?) The combination of bergamot, lemongrass, and orange peel give this a sort of “citrus punch” kind of taste … so it softens the bergamot somewhat … it doesn’t have that same punch from the bergamot that I often want from an Earl Grey. But I did like this approach … it’s a tasty blend.
It’s a delicious, mellow, fruity, bergamot-y tea. Nice.
Backlog:
A really, really good chai! The most surprising thing about that is that this is a sacheted chai! I didn’t expect a sachet chai to taste so good … but there you have it. (Note: while I didn’t prepare it stovetop method, the fact that this IS a sacheted chai would make the clean up that I HATE with the stovetop method – and therefore I seldom prepare chai this way – the sachet would make it so much easier to do!)
Anyway … this is a very flavorful chai. The black tea could be a little more on the assertive side, I think, but it does manage to stand well on its own, and it provides a really nice base for the spices. A lovely cinnamon flavor here. I love the creamy vanilla tones!

I liked this one a lot. I was glad that the chocolate notes are more pronounced than in a typical red velvet cake (I like red velvet alright, but, I want more chocolate. More chocolate = better … this is the rule and I have yet to find an exception to this rule.) This has a nice, chocolate-y tone (although more = better) and Frank did a great job at getting the cream cheese flavor (tangy and creamy), and I like the way the earthy tones of the Mate complement the flavors of red velvet.
A really tasty blend!
Backlog:
Not bad, not bad at all. I like this fruit “tea” blend better than the one I had reviewed just before this. I like the balance between the pomegranate and blueberry, I like the elderberry taste in there, I like that it’s not overrun with hibiscus.
This one is definitely better iced than served hot.

I didn’t dislike this quite as much as some of the others who tried it. I liked the touch of spice. I’d rather there not be hibiscus in it, but, I’m glad that it isn’t a heavy amount of hibiscus in this blend. I like the blend of the fruits – I could taste the pomegranate, the orange and the cranberry. I found myself wishing I could taste more star anise.
Overall, it’s an interesting blend. Not my favorite, for sure, but I didn’t hate it.
Backlog:
A nice blend of white and green tea leaves (although, I admit that I was a little confused by the name of this tea, since it seems to imply that this could be a black tea blend … right? Right?!?) I do like the base though, because it’s soft, smooth and creamy. It melds beautifully with the sweet-tart fruit notes.
