Backlog:

I was so thrilled when I saw this tea in the Amoda box back in May. (Yes, that’s how far behind I am. Yes, I hear Sil saying “she’s never going to get caught up” and laughing about it. It’s not funny Sil. I’ll get caught up. Just … quit laughing at me, Sil.)

Anyway … I love this tea. I love it. One of the very best black tea blends I’ve ever tried. This is like top-notch awesome. Like the awesome-est of the awesome awesomeness.

Backlog:

I love Aiya’s products because they always live up to the quality that I expect from this company … always top-notch.

This was such a fresh … delightful Sencha! I could smell the freshness when I opened the tin. Sweet, luscious, slight kelp-y note, nice vegetative taste.

drank Kiwi Matcha by Red Leaf Tea

Backlog:

A tasty bowl of Matcha, although it’s a bit underwhelming. Not as impressive as I was hoping it would be. I mean, I guess with it being a Kiwi Matcha, I had my hopes pretty high. But the flavor here tastes less like kiwi fruit and more like a candied kiwi. Kind of like the dried, sugar coated kiwi slices you’ll find in the dried fruit section of the grocery store.

Don’t mistake that as me saying I dislike it … I’m enjoying it, but, I guess I was just hoping for a more true-to-the-fruit taste because there are so few Kiwi teas out there … and I was hopeful about this one.

Nice balance between flavor and Matcha – the matcha is sweet, creamy and smooth, and the fruit flavor is sweet and fruity. My specs for this tea were the classic grade of Matcha and the Distinctive level of flavoring.

Rich and a delicious, powerful kind of flavor. This is one of those kinds of teas to keep on hand when you need that extra kick to wake up in the morning, but even though it’s got a certain rugged appeal to it, it’s got a lot of subtle nuances that make it an excellent cup for relaxing with on a contemplative afternoon, too. (This tea does double duty!)

Fruity, caramel-y, with notes of earth and leather and smoke and hints of flower all within one sip … layers and layers of flavors waiting to be discovered with this tea.

Yum! A really nice vanilla tea. Most of my vanilla flavored teas have been black tea bases, but I like the way the natural creamy tones of the green tea work with the sweet, creamy vanilla flavor.

A really pleasant, mellow cuppa. Light buttery tones, sweet vanilla, and the green tea has a hint of lima bean taste to it. It doesn’t sound like it should work, but it does, and does so splendidly. A really nice tea.

A decent rooibos chai. Nice and well-spiced. I like that this is an organic rooibos. Woodsy notes from the rooibos, but I like the way this earthiness melds with the earth tones of the spices.

Peppery, warm, and a nice warm-up kind of tisane. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/05/16/organic-redbush-chai-from-steenbergs-organic/

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me this tea.

A really lovely Assam. Sweet, caramel-y, with nice fruit tones. Malty with hints of a wine-like quality.

It has a bake-y kind of quality to it, like a freshly baked loaf of french bread … you know that warm, caramelized crust that’s chewy and yummy? Yeah … it’s got that kind of yumminess to it.

A really nice Assam.

drank Oolong Black Pearls by Teamania

Backlog:

A really delightful Oolong. The leaves look like a tightly wound green Oolong, except that the leaves are much darker, like a chocolate brown color. A lovely fragrance to the dry leaf: floral and sweet.

A very flavorful Oolong. Honey-esque. fruity with juicy qualities. Earthy and woodsy. A really nice, complex Oolong.

While bananas aren’t my favorite fruit, banana is one of my favorite tea flavorings. I don’t know why I prefer a banana flavored tea over the fruit, but I do. And I really like 52Teas banana offerings. (Yesterday, I had the Napalm Ferret tea … and the tasting note for that one will be posted …eventually! But my point is that … that tea might be my favorite banana tea yet although I want just a touch more banana. I like the combo of banana, cinnamon and cayenne. Yum! But … I’m digressing, aren’t I?)

Anyway! This tea is a little bit of awesome too! The banana flavor here is good and strong, and there’s a nice creaminess to the overall cup, not only from the vanilla, but the hint of coconut flavor that’s in there too. The coconut was a very subtle taste for me, but, as I said in my full-length review of this – http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/05/14/banana-pudding-flavored-black-tea-from-52teas/ – my daughter tasted it (she loves bananas) and she said she tasted more coconut than banana. So, everyone’s taste buds are different. I already knew that, but I guess it just goes to show.

Another great tea from 52Teas.

Ze_Teamaker

This tea kinda morphs on me. Sometimes I taste more banana, other times more coconut.

I am obsessed with tea!

I am a co-founder of the SororiTEA Sisters:

The reason I’m no longer writing for SororiTea Sisters is because I am now the Mad Tea Artist for 52Teas:

http://52teas.com

I’ll still be posting occasional reviews on teas here on Steepster, mostly backlogged reviews because I’m way behind on getting reviews posted. That’s why I’m keeping two accounts active at the current time – so that I can get those backlogged reviews posted.

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination, which is why I was very excited to be the Mad Tea Artist of 52Teas!
