1299 Tasting Notes
One of the last few tea bags from the sampler I got.
This one was disappointing because it sounded really good. I wanted more orange from it and more chocolate. The orange was the stronger of the two flavors but I was expecting this one to be strong like the Amaretto flavor was. This blend was a lot more subtle compared to that one and just didn’t deliver. The chocolate component was missing as well.
I gave my Almond Amaretto to my wee twin grandsons and my daughter-in-law yesterday, so I will have to re-order. I think Orange had the lowest favorable reviews on…Vitacost? Amazon? So I thought I would skip trying that one.
Sorry this one was disappointing.
Orange and black tea, or spices with those two, are common because they are so delicious. Years ago when I was only a teabag store gal, I kept finding delicious blends. When I first got into loose teas, definitely ordered the combo. Now though, it seems almost all new samples I try of this supposable simple and well liked combo aren’t as good as they should be. !?! Go figure!
@Ashmanra: That was nice of you! They sell a couple of blends in my local Fred Meyer. So I don’t always have to order online. They have a lot more fun blends on their website though and most of them have been pretty tasty.
@Lupiressmoon Chocolate orange teas are tricky for some reason. Gmathis sent me a sample of one of her favorites awhile back I believe it was from TeaMaze and it was a good one though. Since Teeccino is meant to be a coffee substitute that also probably made it trickier. I’ve never heard of a Chocolate Orange coffee blend.
I had a cup of the sample I recently ordered of this one along with some holiday gifts. Adagio has a coffee company as well now and I was able to order at the same time and also use a free shipping coupon they sent me. I remember this one being quite artificial in taste which isn’t surprising. It reminded me more of caramel than butterscotch though like a caramel coffee creamer. I did drink this one with some non-dairy milk added which made it nice and creamy. It was dessert-y and yummy but I’ll have to see if I coax the butterscotch out as opposed to caramel.
Flavors: Caramel, Malt
I drank the cup of this made pretty quickly and forgot to take notes so here’s a mini-review for now. Age hasn’t seemed to have impacted the flavor of this tea. This was a really yummy earl grey type flavor profile. I’ll have to do a more extended review next time I drink it. I made a cup for my grandmother and she approved of it as well.
I realized that I had two unopened bags that I still hadn’t tried from this company back in 2020 I believe when I bought some from Dustin. So this one and Perseus are getting opened up today.
The strawberry flavor of this one reminds me of Lupicia’s strawberry. I think I prefer Lupicia’s because I remember it being slightly sweeter and more candylike probably due to the sugar candy mix-ins that their blends have. It also has that perfume like quality to it. I think it reminds me slightly of Lupicia’s Neptune tea as well with the honeyed fruit notes. However, I sadly am not tasting any exotic fruits ex. mango, papaya, or passion fruit.
I made this cup plain without milk or sweetener and the black tea base was rather brisk. I’m going to have to try it with a shorter steep time and maybe some milk added next time. In terms of other french strawberry teas, I really like Jardin Bleu and so I don’t think I’d purchase this one. Glad I got the chance to try it and that it still tastes flavorful!
Flavors: Candy, Fruity, Honey, Perfume, Strawberry
I agree, mine is still delicious 2 years later. One of my favorites from the Lupicia group buy.
Lupicia’s fruity oolongs are so good! ❤️
