drank Earl Grey by Bigelow

I believe Bigelow was the first Earl Grey I had ever tasted and I liked it right away. Might not be the best Earl Grey out there and it’s bagged, not loose leaf, but it’s the most convenient, easiest to find in my area and still one of my favorite.

I could hardly taste the bergamot but I really liked this tea. I think it was a good blend of tea, jasmine and whatever else was in it. I only have it in the bags but it was still good, strong tea.

I think I’ll put this on my list to buy looseleaf next time I put an order in with ETS. I think it would be good to mix with ETS double bergamot Earl Grey.

I wound up drinking two cups of this stuff in a row. It really tastes like berries, and was like drinking a very warm juice. The tea smelled almost as good as it tastes and is an attractive red-purple so dark I could not see the bottom of my cup. I was afraid of spilling it and getting a stain like wine.

I can imagine kids liking this tea too. No caffeine but it’s hard not to dump a load of sugar in to sweeten it up. I only have the sampler pack of 5 teabags (down to 3 :() I imagine the blackcurrant herbal in looseleaf being even better. Sadly the tea has only one good steeping, I tried reusing both the bags afterwards and was just a teasing pink tea.

Next time I put in an order to ETS I think I’ll get a few ounces of this.

drank Chocolate by English Tea Store

After liking the chocolate mint tea from ETS I thought I would like the chocolate tea even more. I don’t. It’s not as chocolatey as the chocolate mint and it has that strange taste that I observed in the ETS decaf Earl Grey, a chemically taste even though it claims to be natural. Or maybe I’m so used to artificial flavoring natural tastes unnatural to me.

You’ll want a little milk and sugar with this tea.

The white chocolate chips in this tea are adorable, and I was surprised that I actually could taste a hint of white chocolate and not just regular chocolate hints. Not as chocolatey as ETS Mint chocolate but does taste a little like chocolate. Had it with sugar and cream.

This tea reminds me a little of the Prince of Wales tea, but not as smoky and more drinkable. I added a level spoonful of sugar, no milk.

I see what people mean by malty and bracing, the description fits. I was expecting it to be more like English Breakfast tea, I learned differently very fast.

My second cup of Earl Grey from ETS today. Had it with a little sugar, maybe a little more sugar than I usually have with my tea.

The bergamot was not as strong as the lavender taste, I love lavender but it almost seemed like too much lavender (I guess there is such a thing) and there seemed to be something else other than tea, bergamot and lavender in this tea, I can’t put my finger on it.

Next time I have this tea I think I will mix it with either regular or double bergamot Earl Grey to balance out the lavender that dominates this tea.

I gave this tea a try today. Added some sugar and a little milk.

It was ok. I don’t not like it but I prefer my Earl Grey with more bergamot taste, (The ETS double bergamot has spoiled me) I prefer my Earl Grey a little more bitter I guess. This tea was smooth, no question about that. When I’m in the mood for a tea with milk/creamy taste I might try this again.

Also I’ve been drinking looseleaf teas but this one was bagged- I’m betting this tea in looseleaf form probably would’ve been stronger and more bergamot.

I steeped the leaves again, added milk and sugar like the first time… The barest hint of chocolate but it mostly tasted of orange. Still tasted good and was less bitter the second time.

Because I wanted to sleep tonight but still wanted to drink tea I decided to try out the decaf Earl Grey from my sampler.

I think the double bergamot Earl Grey from ETS has spoiled my tastebuds and the regular dose of bergamot is not going to cut it anymore. This tea has an odd smell and taste to it, maybe it’s because it’s decaf. It’s not so bad that I won’t drink it again, I probably will whenever I want tea that’s not herbal or containing caffeine, but i don’t think I’ll be ordering ETS’s Decaf Earl Grey.
