94 Tasting Notes
This is my first time trying genmaicha, and I do not think it was a bad introduction. This is also my first time trying anything from 52 Teas, I plan to try more of 52 Teas in the future.
In the first steeping the chocolate was very faint, barely there (Maybe my sample got exposed to too much light/air?) but it was still a really good cup of tea. So much like drinking slightly sweet popcorn.
Strangely the second steeping had a more chocolatey taste. Maybe I should have just steeped it longer the first time?
Makes me wish I had gotten around to watching Firefly so I know what this Browncoat is about.
Preparation
Only a few days after I get this sample I came down with a sore throat. So I give this herbal a try. I know there’s other stuff in this tisane but all I can taste is the chamomile, it’s overpowered the tea. I added some honey and it is soothing my throat a little, but not much more than any other tea would.
It’s not bad but I don’t think I would order it again. Chamomile doesn’t really effect me, but it might help others fall asleep. Also the vitamin C might be helping me with my sore throat/possible cold behind the scenes.
Preparation
I think I’ve found my new favorite chocolate tea. This is the most chocolatey tea I’ve had. I really like the creamy texture it has. I was going to add milk but once again we’re out, but this tea is fine without it.
The caffeine level in this tea is really high so I don’t think I’ll be sleeping well tonight…
Preparation
This is not Earl Grey but I still love my bergamot. This tea is more vegetal than citrusy, a nice break from all the dessert teas I’m usually drinking. The bergamot becomes more noticeable as the tea cools, and a pinch of sugar may help bring out the bergamot even more but this tea is fine alone. Has a slight peppery taste too, must be the sencha.
Preparation
I don’t drink coffee but this is what I remember coffee tasting like, only a little better. I had it with a little milk and sugar.
I don’t hate it though I don’t think I would drink it again. I’m glad I got to try it as I was curious about this tea.
Preparation
I usually have this tea with milk but today I made a cup before finding out we were out of milk so I had it was just a little sugar. It’s still a good cup of tea, creamy and the bergamot is more noticeable without the milk so I might keep drinking it without milk because I love bergamot.
Preparation
I got my mother a sample of this tea for Christmas. She loves Twining’s Darjeeling teabags so I decided to see if I could upgrade her taste buds.
She brewed a pot and claims it was only 2 minutes, but I’m pretty sure it was longer than that, at least 4 minutes. She remarked that the color wasn’t very dark… She tends to steep by color than tasting it (She hates green tea, I wonder why lol) and the tea turned out bitter. I’m pretty sure if it had a shorter steep time (a real 2 minutes instead of 4+) and maybe a lower temperature it would have come out better. I don’t think the tea was that bad, though over-steeped and slightly bitter. When I’m in the mood for a Darjeeling I’ll try it again, I don’t think my mother would mind me drinking her Christmas present, she got two boxes of Twining Darjeeling from me too.
Preparation
This is my favorite creamy Earl Grey. It’s a stronger tea than most cream EG’s use, and it has more bergamot flavor. The blend fits together perfectly. I love it with milk and sugar. And the scent of this tea is wonderful, I can sit sniffing it for hours.
Thanks Nicole for sending me this, when I can afford and justify buying more tea I’m gonna order some more.
Preparation
Is it just me or does this tea get better when you’re getting closer to the bottom of the box?
This is a bagged tea but it’s still really good. Very spicy, strong hints of coconut. Even awesomer if you use a flavored coffee creamer, like pumpkin spice or chocolate, like most milk teas are improves with flavored creamers. When I can’t use fancy creamers I use milk (whole milk is better) and add honey instead of sugar.
Preparation
I got a free sample of this tea. I was hoping it would be one of those teas that other people don’t like but I like.
No, this tea was awful. I only took a few sips before pouring it down the drain, I feel guilty for making the drain swallow it all.
Bad tidings.
If you have netflix, you can stream it! “Keep flying and stay shiny!”
Definitely take the time to watch it sometime. It’s amazing.
@Serenity – Can’t stop the signal! ;)
I don’t have Netflix, I’ll see if it’s on Hulu and if not there I’m sure my library has the DVDs.
