687 Tasting Notes
Yesterday, my Japanese party was canceled on account of the snow. (Not that much, but more than we were expecting.) When I got home, I had this with miso soup and roasted seaweed snacks. It smells nicely green, with some scent of rice cakes/ popcorn. There is a light toasty flavour, with a hint of seaweed. Thanks to cookies for the sample.
This seems to be my winter tea. Had a cup of this one with my breakfast yesterday. There a is a nice nutty scent. The flavor is the usual roasty nut and grain. It is a bit lighter than the last one I had, but good for cold mornings. Thanks to cookies for this sample.
Flavors: Grain, Nutty, Roast Nuts
My evening cup. I’m having this while watching Wrath of Khan. (As the folks in the chat room know, I’ve been on a Star Trek watch-a-thon.) There is a scent of yams, malt, and a hint of honey. The flavour is mild yams, and a bit sweet. Will need more for my movie, so I am glad it is part of the tea stash aboard the Starship Teakettle.
Thanks to cookies for the sample.
Flavors: Malt, Yams
One of the reasons I like Irish Breakfast is because it has Assam. Then, of course, I like Assam because of the malty scent/ flavour. So I was pleased to try this. Thanks to cookies for the sample. It certainly smells nicely malty, and slightly sweet. The flavour is a little stronger than I was expecting, but tastes like the tea title. Having a second cup while watching Star Trek again (because Spock type reasons.)
Flavors: Malt
One of my press samples. Decided to try this because I’ve been mostly drinking black teas lately. Since it’s Sunday, I’m also having my own Masterpiece Theater with the adaptation of my favourite Dickens novel (starting a young Harry Potter.) This tea smells so nice, it has that good toasty scent, along with some hints of grain and roast nuts. The roasted, nutty flavour is nice as well. Just what I needed for the cold, windy day.
Flavors: Grain, Roast Nuts
We found this tea at a local international market. It smelled so good. Even better brewed, I get a nice floral scent, with some nice notes of sweet vanilla. Having my third cup while watching Star Trek. The base tea is nice, and pairs well with the floral/ vanilla flavour.
Flavors: Rose, Vanilla
Had this at the store when I was doing errands last week, as there is one in a part of ABQ I like to visit often. It smelled mostly like citrus, didn’t really get any berry. The flavour was much more grapefruit as well. Like a sweet, citrus punch of some kind. And no berry.
Flavors: Citrus, Grapefruit
Since I moved to NM, I try to visit this shop whenever possible. Got this tea as one of my samples. I always like the golden colour of the leaves. There is a scent of cocoa, and hints of yams. The flavour is sweet, and a bit malty. It’s smooth, mild, and very good.
Flavors: Cocoa, Malt, Yams
Since I needed to get up early for an outing, I decided to have this tea to start the day. It has a nice scent, sweet potatoes and molasses. The flavour is mildly sweet, and reminds me of dried fruit. Now I’m having my fourth cup while watching Star Trek.
Flavors: Dried Fruit, Molasses, Sweet, Yams
