I have never tried pistachio ice cream but the combination of flavors intrigued me as I am a fan of Toasted Walnut by DavidsTea. The dried tea leaves have a wonderful creamy and nutty scent that sets the stage perfectly. Fitting to the name, pistachio is the dominant flavor which is supported by the clever use of Mao Jian green tea which adds a light creaminess and has very pleasant taste on the palate. There is also a smooth milkiness to the blend as the tea cools and the flavors continue to blossom. For this blend I found it was key not to steep longer than the recommendation as it disrupts the balance of flavors – which I tend to do since I like my tea strong. In the end, Pistachio Ice Cream surpassed Toasted Walnut and will be soon replacing it in my tea cupboard.

this one sounds interesting! I think i’d enjoy it! … there was a david’s tea in the fall? (maybe summer… it was either indian summer or Persian apple) that had pistachio’s in it, but they weren’t the dominant flavour… I loved it because I love pistachos (nut, and ice cream).. this sounds like one I may order.

Yes, I remember that one – it was Persian Apple. I found that it was closer to a rose congou with a twist. This blend you definitely get the pistachio flavoring and the creamy notes don’t overwhelm but add to the brew. Based on your comment I don’t see how this could be a miss for you.
