Made some corn muffins for breakfast, and this went really well with them. What doesn’t this tea go well with? :) :) :)

Yummy spices, a great change of pace, but a little weak after having some other roobois chais which are more robust. I think next time I am going to make it with 3 bags for 16 oz water. Not cost effective, but I bet it will be super delicious, because I do like the spices used in this one.

Feeling throat scratchy – hope it’s just allergies! I thought Earl Grey Supreme would help me out of my doldrums, and it did – to a point. I was craving something sweeter after a cup, so I added a pinch of Rosy Earl Grey and mmmmm! I think I’m going to drink this alllllllll day :)

My Golden Love! On second very sweet, honeyed steep. As close as you can get to heaven on a Monday morning.

Had this because I didn’t want to bore you guys with another Vanilla Comoro entry ;) and I though it would go well with the remaining butter cookies with chocolate tops. It was quite good! I’m still getting a little chemically taste, but it’s a very drinkable tea. I have about a teaspoon left of my sample, and I think I will mix it with some chocolate tea I have for a sort of “half-caf” concoction one night :)

They should rename “Vanilla Comoro” to “Jacqueline’s Tea” and call it a day.

(said in best Sunset Boulevard voice) “All right Mr. Harney, I’m ready for my close-up!”

SimplyJenW

Have you tried Harney’s Midsummer Peach? Not quite as good as Vanilla Comoro, but a nice decaf fruit flavored tea. I think my fave decaf list is Vanilla Comoro, Midsummer Peach, and Harney’s Decaf Ceylon. I am starting to be able to taste that light chemical taste in the others. :(

JacquelineM

SinplyJenW – I’ll have to put that on my list for the next Harney order! Thanks for the rec – I love peachy teas!

SimplyJenW

I have some sachets, and I could pop some in the mail for you.

JacquelineM

I saw you ask about Rosy Earl Grey. Have you tried it yet? I can send you some of that in exchange if you’d like?

SimplyJenW

I would not mind trying the Rosy Earl Grey if I knew I could get more (I hate it when I get attached to something and it is no longer available….I still have not gotten an email response of any kind from three weeks ago when I asked about availability!). You know, I have emailed Harney asking when Golden Monkey would be back in stock (it is Septemeber, in case you were wondering!) I would love a small sample of it, if you have some to spare. I want to compare it to the Golden Monkey I have, so that I will be ready to order from Harney in the Fall!

JacquelineM

You got it! I’ll get it out end of week/early next week!! I am very glad to know about when Golden Monkey will be back! Thank you!

(I bet Rosy will be back – I’ll throw a little in – maybe you’ll hate it and then you won’t have to worry :)

SimplyJenW

LOL…. I will probably mail out soon. I am headed to my sister’s to visit my 7 mo niece in a few days. It is my kid’s only cousin on my side of the family, and they are quite smitten with her!

I just had a friend mention she was looking for Midsummer Peach! She loves it, and I offered to put it on my order since Barnes and Noble doesn’t carry it anymore!

Broken record time. Yup, had it again last night with some butter cookies with the dark chocolate tops. Gosh, they’re good! And Vanilla Comoro went so well with them, adding some vanillacaramel sweetness.

I needed something good to go with my breakfast (bonus picture of my breakfast:
http://www.spo.gs/RetroCamera.html?img=cIip It’s a lemon curd muffin with coconut shavings I made with hardly any sugar and…olive oil! You’d never know – they’re very delicious!) and the Emperor came to mind. It can do no wrong, so I was confident it would pair well with this slightly unusual muffin. Yup, super yummy, and will provide all the good roasty flavor and get up and go I need for the last work day of a very intense week!

Those muffins look wonderful - easy enough for a kitchen schmo like me to attempt?

JacquelineM

Super easy – 2 bowls – that’s it! Here is the recipe:

http://www.bhg.com/recipe/muffins/lemon-curd-muffins/

I made them in a muffin tin and not a popover pan. The muffin directions on on the bottom. I used 1/4 cup sugar since I figured the lemon curd and coconut was already sweet, and they were plenty sweet for breakfast for me w the reduced sugar.

I love to cook, bake, read, paint, knit, do needlework, and garden. I need my coffee, but I LOVE my tea. I work at an Art School, and attend a large public university doing post-bac work (my BA is in English). I’m interested in the liminal spaces between art and craft, the academic and the practical, the individual and community, and the old and the new. I’m currently exploring these ideas through the disciplines of education, literature, history, and psychology.

I enjoy writing tasting notes, but have decided not to numerically rate teas as of 9/14/10. For an explanation, see my looooong tasting note about Mountain Malt from the Simple Leaf.

My favorites:
Chinese black teas
A good “milk and sugar” English style black
Earl Grey (classic, and in all variations!)
Vanilla teas (classic, and in all variations!)
Jasmine, Rose, Violet and other froofy, flowery teas!
An Occasional Oolong
Flavored Rooibos
Herbal Tisanes
