drank Kava Stress Relief by Yogi Tea

While it has been a while since I’ve had this tea, I remember it well. I get anxiety and am basically wound up all the time, mentally and physically. I have learned to deal with it without medication. Kava is one of the only things that helped me other than passionflower extract or a prescription benzo like Xanax or Valium. I must say that I would brew with 3-4 bags for like 7-8 mins and would not take them out of the cup. As for the taste…cinnamony :) one thing that you can do to tell that kava is indeed in this tea is to hold a couple sips in your mouth for like 10-20 seconds. Do this enough an you will get a bit of numbness in your mouth. I can not attest to any problems with the tea as it was never strong enough for me. I’ve taken kava in extract form and it can definitely “slow you down.” Theres a reason it is called Grog, and in some cultures it’s used basically like alcohol. I’ve found all this out online in a short amount of time, so the hysterical reactions of some just make me laugh… If you see a warning, get some information before you drink.

Ah I’m a passionflower extract girl myself. Which reminds me, I need to get more! I’ll have to try this tea sometime too though, thanks for the review!

I received my Tea Trekker order this morning! I have been looking forward to trying a Dan Cong black tea for about a month, and finally broke down and bought some(if I weren’t a tea ‘addict’ I would say I already have enough tea and did not need more…oh well) I really enjoy this tea, it takes what I love about Dan Cong oolong and adds another dimension in the richness of the taste! I taste fruit, not the light fruity taste of oolong, but a rich juiciness that is something I have yet to find in other black teas. As for now I will cut my tasting notes short, for I do not have the power of taste description like many on steepster have :(
On a side note, I stopped smoking cigarettes right before new years, and it is amazing how much better I can smell and taste! So it’s will be an ongoing process, but I will try to train my taste buds so I can correctly describe what I taste!

Brewing method: 7g of tea for 7 oz of water in a small teavana perfect tea maker. 1 quick rinse, 6 sec first and second steep, 10 sec third +3-5 sec each extra steep. I had 7 steepings before I stopped…not the leafs fault, lol couldn’t take any more liquid :(

I received the 2012 harvest as a sample with my latest Verdant order:) I had two ounces of the ’11 harvest, so it will be interesting to see if I can taste any difference between the two!

I received a sample of the Tian Di Ren Bulang ‘06 sheng. Finally a puer I don’t hate! It doesn’t have any of the “moldy” smells that I have found off putting in the past. It’s a very interesting taste. Too complex for my novice palate.

While I have always liked tea, I have recently fallen off the deep end into loose tea madness :)

I have found that I prefer the darker spectrum of oolong teas like da hong pao, Shui Xian, dark roasted and/or aged TGY, and also Dancong’s. Pretty much anything but floral oolongs, they just arent my style. I also enjoy pretty much every black tea that I have tried! I am also getting more familiar with puer tea, and lately have been preferring shu over sheng…Good for the stomach, and the most likely way to find myself “tea drunk!”
