drank Pure Green Tea by Twinings

Straight forward green tea. Definitely pick up on the grassy notes. Enough flavor that it didn’t require me to add any sweeteners or milk. The brew time was short compared to other teas I drink to get the desired flavor (3 mins for this brew).

I tend to use green teas as a base to other teas I drink, but, tonight, I opted to go for it plain and found it to be pleasing and light on the palate. Nothing amazing, but nothing I would avoid, either.

Good straight forward flavored tea. I would have not known it is decaffeinated had it not been on the label. A nice English Breakfast tea option that I can have in the evening before bed.

English Breakfast is not a favorite tea of mine, but this one was enjoyable. I added a slight amount of milk to it, which is something I don’t typically do with teas, but I enjoyed it with this one. Not a necessity, though, as there is enough flavor to drink without any additives.

It would be a tea I’d recommend to friends who are looking for a decaf along this lines.

The scent was promising but the tea, itself, was disappointing compared to what one expects from a Chai tea.

I’m not usually a chai fan, as I find them to be a bit too strong for my liking, so I didn’t hate the tea, but I didn’t like it either. Looking at this from a chai/vanilla perspective, I felt they missed the mark in both directions.

The tea was weak enough I never even removed the bag while drinking it, which is highly unusual for me when it comes to chais.

I prefer to not add sweeteners, but I may try a bit of milk or honey as suggested by other reviews and see if it changes my opinion.

EDIT TO ADD: I did a second brew at 190 degrees, steeped for 5-6 minutes, and added a bit of honey powder to it. It made no significant boost to flavor other than to make it slightly sweeter. Still would not recommend.

drank Well Rested by Trader Joe's

I consider this to be a slightly better than average tea. I am unlikely to buy this one again as it reminds me of Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer, which I prefer more.

As with Celestial Seasonings, I tend to have a love/hate relationship with the tea offerings from Trader Joe’s.

This tea has a nice herbal flavor and did not require me to add any additional sweeteners which is a preference of mine.

I’d recommend it to folks even though it wasn’t a big hit for me.

drank Cinnamon Apple by Bigelow

I am normally a fan of cinnamon based teas, but this one is a definite pass.

The main flavor I detected reminded me of a light sour apple and I got an almost unnoticeable hint of cinnamon at the end of each sip.

Feeling ill and decided to try the plain version of this tea. (I’m guessing at this since it seems my version varied from some of the other reviews.) Surprisingly subtle yet requires no sweeteners to make it drinkable. I accidentally boiled the water and forgot to take my tea holder out and this tea was extremely forgiving as there was no bitter flavor for over brewing.

The tea leaves were wet, which surprised me, thinking, initially, the leaves were compromised.

This tea will become part of my rotation of teas, especially when my stomach is upset. There is a “soft” texture while drinking, for lack of my ability to think of better terminology at this point in time. Something I figured I should mention for anyone that is sensitive to textures.

First brew was boiling with 10+ minutes steeping. Second brew was 190 degrees with 5 minutes steeping. I preferred the 190 degrees but a longer steep and will do so for any future brews.

If you like cinnamon flavored teas, this is one of my favorites. Strong cinnamon smell and flavor but not so much that I find it overpowering. It requires no additional sweeteners to enhance its flavor, which is a big plus with any tea for me.

I particularly enjoy a cup of this tea in the evening before bed or when sitting around the camp fire.

One of my go-to teas that I can pick up for about 3 bucks from Walmart.

One of my more favorite teas from Celestial Seasonings. I find their teas to be very hit and miss so I never know which I will like until I try them.

With this tea I usually add a piece of licorice root (just 1-2 smaller pieces) to add a bit more flavor to this subtle tea. I find myself reaching for this tea in the evening a few hours before bed.

I normally love pumpkin spice teas but this one is a pass. It has no flavor compared to other pumpkin spice teas I’ve tried.

If you like a bland subtle (almost to the point of no flavor), this is the tea for you. Otherwise stick to other brands that put out a higher quality blend.

drank Blueberry Tea by TEViVe

While the smell was promising, it did not live up in flavor. I paid $1.00 for it (from Dollar Tree) and it tastes like it.

I’ve had low priced teas surprise me, but this wasn’t one of them. I didn’t find it to be an undrinkable tea, but it is not something I’d buy again.

I’m going to play around with temperature and steep times to see if anything changes and, if so, I’ll edit my review. I may try a cold brew of this, as well.

EDIT TO UPDATE:

I’ve tried this tea at various temperatures and steep times, from 175 degrees to 212 degrees, and from 3 minutes to upwards of 6-7 minutes and have noticed no significant increase in flavor.

Additionally, I did a cold brew two different times with this tea, once as a stand alone, and once mixed with another tea I used as a base. While not undrinkable the flavor was uninspiring. I wouldn’t have known I was drinking a blueberry flavored tea had I not brewed it myself.

I won’t be purchasing this one again.
