Still on the hunt for a good chocolate tea… This tea smells just like cocoa, with a hint of the woodsy rooibos. There are bits of cocoa bean and some really pretty yellow flower strands.

After the brew, the liquor is of course the nice deep red of a rooibos. It smells mainly like rooibos now, with a hint of chocolate. By the smell, I don’t think that this tea will solve the chocolate hunt.

The firs sip…mmmmm it is pretty creamy and almost minty, with a slight hint of chocolate at the end. The rooibos smells strong but doesn’t taste that strong at all which is the way I prefer it. After a few more sips yup there is a bit of chocolate but the main flavor for me is the end notes that is minty and leaves my mouth refreshed.

After it cools there is a bit more chocolate flavor, so if that is what you are looking for let it cool a bit! This for me is a nice tea, I enjoy the blend but it doesn’t solve my craving for chocolate.

Harney & Sons makes a rather delicious chocolate tea. Have you tried it?

I love the smell of teas! They are all so different! This one to me smells like vanilla with a hint of citrus or orange to me. I don’t really smell the bourbon. But I could definitely smell the vanilla which I love!

After the brew, the smell is more black tea than anything else. It is a pretty dark amber color that I love! First sip, hmmmm tastes mainly like ….black tea :) but there is a slight sweetness at the end. After a few more sips yep that is about all I taste so I decide to let it cool a bit.

Now I can taste the vanilla and a hint of bourbon, and the flavors meld very nicely. This is a very subtle tea that has a bit of astringency at the end. It is good but not sure if it will be on my re-buy list.

Mmmm this smells so delish! It is a bit lighter on the banana than Monkey Fart and you can smell the butter as well as walnuts! Yummy!

After the steep, all I can really smell is the bananas maybe a hint of walnut but that could be because I just want to smell that, the whole house smells like bananas :)
It is a pretty light amber color for a black tea.

The first sip, I was confused, the smell is so strong but the taste not so much?!?! The first sip is a pretty mellow black tea with hints of bananas. I take another sip and sure enough you can taste the banana and it is juicy, as well as hints of something else, I think it is the butter or walnuts, whatever it is it tastes good!

This is a really mellow tea, the flavors blend together really nicely and you can taste the tea which sometimes gets lost in the flavors but not this one! After letting it cool a bit the flavors are more prominent and I really, really really like it. I think that I really enjoy a bananas in my tea, maybe Frank could do a banana creme pie flavor!

Holy toledoes Frank does this smell good! I can smell the rum, the pinapple and the coconut and when you look in the bag you see huge chunks of pinapple and slices of cocnut. It is so beautiful. I feel as if I am on a island watching the waves lapping against the shore!

I wanted to drink this iced so a doubled the amount and brewed it up. It is a pretty light golden color, reminds me of ginger ale.

First sip, yes, yes, yes this is soooo good! It is smooth and kind of creamy you can taste the rum flavor and the coconut and at the end a nice hint and tang of the pinapple. This is so good! You have to try this.

On another note Frank if you are reading this, I love your packaging and pictures the one thing though that I really like is when you have the instructions on the package! This one doesn’t and I noticed some others that don’t so I have to then look on another package… it’s just sort of an inconvience, but I wouldn’t change anything else!

I really really love the smell of this tea. When you open it up it smells just like strawberries dipped in chocolate, yum, yum, yum! There is a slight hint of floral but really the strawberry and chocolate stand out.

After steeping the color of the liquor is lighter than I thought, it is still a nice amber color but on the lighter side.

First taste was not what I expected… all I could taste was the black tea… I really really wanted to taste the strawberries and chocolate but all I tasted was the black tea. Not that this is a bad thing just not what I was expecting.

After it cooled a bit I could taste just a hint of chocolate and strawberries and I could really smell the florals in it but I could not taste the floral notes at all. I am going to have to brew this a couple of times and see if can’t get the strawberries and chocolate to pop more.

Last sample from SimplyJenW… so much fun to trade with others! She threw this one in because she knows that I like chocolate… Well I absolutely loved the smell of this from the bag… it was a deep warm vanilla, chocolate, earthy smell. I almost wanted not to steep it because it smells so delicious.

After steeping the liquor is a really really dark amber color almost coffee color. The smell still has really earthy smell and not quite as sweet smelling now, more of a true dark real unsweetened cocoa smell with bits of cinnamon.

The first taste I was kind of disappointed… the smell is so much better than the taste to me. The earthiness comes out… I have never had a Puerh before, so not sure if this is how all of these teas taste but I feel as if this tea has to many flavors in it. You can smell the vanilla, and cinnamon, can even taste those a bit, but you also taste the unsweetened chocolate and then the earthiness… For me this mixture does not make sense.

After letting it cool a bit the flavors seem to meld a bit more and they are not so bad but I have to say that I think I won’t be buying this tea. I loved trying it though!

Pu erh is kind of weird….for my first cup of straight pu erh, all I could think of was a barn…..it really tasted like a barn. I am guessing it is an acquired taste. I did think this one was unique, though.

Fairyfli

I have heard that often times it tastes or at least smell like barn… which I think is pretty funny considering I grew up on a farm… so I am not to sure if I could drink a tea that smelled like that!

SimplyJenW

My daughter rides horses….and it tastes like the barn smells for sure!

Cofftea

Shu (cooked) Pu Erh definitely hasa an earthy quality to it… and more so than sheng (raw), but the chocolate is nice and strong so most of it is masked. I love this one, although I steep it hotter and longer. Great w/ milk. I had to laugh at your “too many flavors” comment. I normally love blends (mom calls my creations “kitchen sink teas” and never drinks them because she likes simplicity), but I think this would be better w/ just chocolate as the flavor.

Fairyfli

Cofftea, I too love blends so much, but I guess you can have too much of a good thing!

What an interesting tea… I can’t really decide if I like it or not?!?! The smell that comes off of the loose leaves is a light green vegetable smell with hints of raspberry. It smells good to me, but I was expecting more of a grape smell. Plenty of whole leaves here very pretty!

After the steep, the liquor is a pale, pale, golden color, the smell is more vegetable now, with a hint of fizz? Not sure how they do that but it is interesting!

The first taste, was sweet! Much sweeter than I thought it was going to be. That is why I love tea, lots and lots of surprises! Anyways, after the first taste it left a floral taste in my mouth, and then just a touch of astringency which I definitely was not expecting that from a white tea.

After a few more sips I can taste a bit of juiciness from the berries and just a hint of grape, but mainly I get sweetness, and floral notes, with a bit of greenness. Even after finishing the cup and on the second one, I still just don’t know if I really like the mix?!?! I don’t know how many more cups I will drink. Might have to try this another day.

drank Glitter & Gold by DAVIDsTEA

This is such a beautiful tea!! When you get a scoop you get pretty little gold balls that shimmer next to the black tea. The smell is extremely cinammon! So strong that I was worried that it would be to much cinammon, but once again I was fooled.

After the steep, the liquor is a dark dark tea with beautiful shimmer and sparkle, a starry night for sure, it really is pretty, it allowed me to take a moment and admire the tea. The smell is still really strong cinnamon.

The first sip it was surprisingly smooth, and mellow. This is a tea to drink if you need comfort. The cinammon is not spicy at all, it is a sweet cinammon which I love. It is almost a vanilla cinammon flavor to me. This is really good and I love how beautiful this tea is, it would be fun to serve this to friends! This is going to be a keeper for sure.

drank Vanilla Oolong by DAVIDsTEA

Hmmm this is an interesting tea, I have not had very many oolong teas but this one is nice. The smell is vegetal with some sweetness, not sure if I really care for the smell or not. brewed it up and it is a nice light gold color.

The smell of the liquor is much stronger now, it almost smells like sweet spinach, yuck. After smelling it I was not sure if I going to like this tea at all. I hesitantly took a sip and was totally surprised.

It was sweet and definately vanilla, yum… and it was buttery, not really vegetal at all just a nice buttery sweet taste. It was very smooth and I drank this very quickly, and was sad that I was at the end of the cup. I did not get any orange at all but if you like sweetness try this, it is pretty darn good.

I have had a such a great tea day! All of my teas were so yummy! This tea is not exception…
The smell is just like a homemade caramel with a bit of woodsy scent from the rooibos. I was not sure the caramel would flatter the taste of rooibos but boy was I wrong.

After the brewing the woodsy scent had dissipated and you could smell the warm caramel. it was a beautiful red amber color. First absolutely perfection in a cup! This is such a good dessert tea, it had a nice mouthfeel and was smooth and creamy and sweet. You can taste the rooibos but it is very subtle which is nice, sometimes the woodsy taste is to much… but this has such a smooth taste.

If you want a dessert tea that has no caffeine and you like caramel this is a tea you must try!

I have been wanting to drink tea for about a year now. I love the idea of tea but I go through times when I don’t drink any…. I know that it is good for me but sometimes I just don’t make it. I think that finding a place like this will help me remember to drink happiness! I have really only tried Teavanna teas and have a whole cupboard full of them. I recently just bought a few teas from other companies and are waiting impatiently for them! :)

I tend to like fruity teas or spicy, sweet teas. I like them to have lots and lots of flavor. I am looking the ultimate chocolate tea and the ultimate coconut tea. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This forum looks like such a friendly and warm place, I can’t wait to learn more and more about tea as well as enjoy all of the different kinds.
