drank Extra BOLD Masala Chai by 52teas
95 tasting notes

All I had was a single sample pouch. It was just enough to make a single pitcher. I boiled my water and steeped the tea for just about 3 minutes. Then I placed the pitcher in the refrigerator overnight to chill. I’m drinking it plain without milk or sweetener.

This is a really good chai. The flavors are so well blended and smooth. There is no bitterness or astringency. It’s not terribly bold, but maybe that’s a matter of leaf to water ratio or age. I can see from the other reviews that it was blended some time ago (2 years?). Perhaps it has had time to mellow.

This is a very yummy chai, certainly one of the best ones I’ve had. It’s difficult to pick out individual flavors because it is so well blended. I think I can detect the cinnamon from the sensation of consuming something freshly baked. I think I can detect the ginger (and maybe cinnamon) from the slight tingling warmth at the back of my throat. I can detect the cloves from its savoriness. All in all, it is very well rounded and I think it would take well to milk and honey. This is one that I’d like to try warm with milk.

Brewed 2 quarts using 185°F water for 3 minutes. Put the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill overnight.

Delicious fruity tea. I definitely taste the pomegranate and blackberry, but the pomegranate is more prominent to me. It is naturally sweet and has a lovely sweet, white tea aftertaste. This actually reminds me of the Forest Berries Silver Needle VIT.

drank Flaming Chocolate Mate by 52teas

I brewed this with boiling water for 10 minutes and then put the pitcher in the refrigerator to cool overnight. I am enjoying a thermos of it today.

I honestly didn’t know what to think of it the first time I had it. I’m still not sure if I love it or think it’s just really odd. I mean it tastes like hot pepper, chocolate mate. I’m on the fence about mate to begin with and hot pepper in my drink seems odd to me, but I can’t stop drinking it. It is super smooth and has a kick, but doesn’t get too spicy hot. In fact I think I might like the cayenne pepper.

drank Eight Candles by Della Terra Teas

I brewed this using 195°F water for 2 minutes and then put the tea in the refrigerator to cool overnight. I am drinking a chilled thermos of this at work today.

I had high hopes for this tea. The description is marvelous and the tea is really beautiful with all the little sprinkles and festive balls. The taste is yummy and very marshmallow. The aftertaste, however, is not. It builds to something not very pleasant, maybe akin to the aftertaste of some artificial sweeteners. I’m not really sure how to describe it.

I played around with the brewing parameters. If I use more leaf and longer steep time, then the sugary marshmallow flavor becomes fantastic, but the aftertaste scales as well. So, I found that 2 minutes provides a light marshmallow flavor and light aftertaste and is the most enjoyable way to consume this tea.

I brew this with boiling water for 5 minutes and wait until it’s cooled just enough to drink.

I really like this tea. I discovered it last year and was disappointed when my Trader Joe’s sold out mid December and I had to wait a whole year to get more. It tastes just like someone melted a candy cane in hot water. It is tingly peppermint and creamy vanilla. There is no artificial taste. It is also sugar sweet. I keep expecting to see calories on the label, but it says 0 calories. Usually I don’t like sweet tea, but I really like this one. This is really perfect for the holidays and the best of the grocery store holiday teas.

This is a fruity infusion that tastes mostly of hibiscus. It is bright, tart, and refreshing. I have trouble picking out particular blackberry flavor (mostly generally fruitiness) and maybe the vanilla is present as just touch of creaminess. I like hibiscus, but there is a slight off-taste that I don’t like.

drank Concord Grape Bai Mu Dan by 52teas

I brewed this tea using 195°F water for 3 minutes and then put it in the refrigerator overnight to chill. Today I am enjoying it cold.

This is good. You can tell that the base is white tea. There is a slight hazelnut quality that I associate with white tea. And, despite my having had this tea for awhile now, it still tastes fresh to me. The grape flavor is great. Definitely concord, not candied or artificial tasting. Very clean, fruity, and sweet. There is a brief and pleasant aftertaste of grape. This is a very good tea.

I received a single sample bag of this. Steeped 2.5 minutes with water just under boiling. I was able to get 2 really good steeps.

This is a really nicely flavored black tea. The pumpkin spice flavoring is soft and creamy. The tea is subdued and in the background. This is probably the best pumpkin tea I’ve had.

Prepared this by steeping for 2 minutes with 180°F water, then putting in the refrigerator overnight. I also had a small cup hot before chilling.

This is very flavorful and aromatic. It’s delicious. I’m not sure I would think pear if I didn’t know that’s what was intended, but I am getting a sort of dried pear flavor when I think about it. It’s very good, fruity, sweet, and has a nice clean aftertaste. No bitterness or astringency. The green tea base is really good too, which really makes the aftertaste pleasant.

Brewed this with 200°F water for 3 minutes and then put the pitcher in the refrigerator overnight. I did not add any additives. Enjoying a thermos of it iced today.

The flavor is good, more chocolate to me than caramel. I also notice a sort of alcohol like quality to it. It tastes a little like a good truffle actually. For me, though, the aftertaste undermines it. It’s got that strange aftertaste that I detect in many flavored teas, and it just lingers. I just don’t like the aftertaste.
