219 Tasting Notes
Loving genmaicha, so I thought I’d grab this while English Tea Store was having free shipping. So glad I did. This is the 3rd genmaicha I’ve tried since discovering it at an Asian restaurant. It’s definitely my favorite so far. Now I just wish I had some spicy Korean pork to go with it.
Stuart Mackenzie: Well, it’s a well known fact, Sonny Jim, that there’s a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentavirate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows.
Tony Giardino: So who’s in this Pentavirate?
Stuart Mackenzie: The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up. Oh, I hated the Colonel with is wee beady eyes, and that smug look on his face. “Oh, you’re gonna buy my chicken! Ohhhhh!”
Charlie Mackenzie: Dad, how can you hate “The Colonel”?
Stuart Mackenzie: Because he puts an addictive chemical in his chicken that makes ya crave it fortnightly, smartass!
I can’t drink this tea without quoting So I Married An Axe Murderer. Caramel & Toffee & Pu-erh, does it get any better?? This tea is so rich and delicious and heavenly. I first found this at Elaine’s Tea Shoppe in Toledo, but this I picked up online with a coupon :)
I’m not kidding, that boy’s head is like Sputnik; spherical but quite pointy at parts! Now that was offside, wasn’t it? He’ll be crying himself to sleep tonight, on his huge pillow.
Rethinking my rating on this after my experience today. This was so bitter that it was undrinkable. I’m going to try steeping at a shorter time the next time I make it with a lower temp. Going to take away my rating for now until I make a final decision about it.
Yogic makes an excellent chai. I love that cardamom is the dominant flavor. It’s definitely a top spice for me. I love it in cookies and rice pudding and now chai :)
Catching up on Tivo tonight. I think Captain Hook is a nice addition to the Once Upon a Time cast. He’s beautiful. Also crazy excited to see Ethan Embry will be on the show :) Love that guy!
Ah yes, Cpt Hook is an interesting character to have brought in! I am trying to figure out what on earth they’ll do for a third season. It really feels like things should wrap up this time, and if they extend things any longer it will get absurd.
This has been in my cupboard for quite a while and thought it was time to try it. I think it is the first herbal tea I’ve had, so I don’t have much to compare it to. I bought it because it had promises of floral notes. The only notes I’m tasting are citrus and chamomile. It’s a mild flavor and kind of bores me. I think I’ll pass this on to my friend Kim :)
After sipping down many of my opened samples this weekend, I thought I deserved to open a new one :) Can you go wrong with oolong?!? I have yet to taste one that I didn’t care for.
This reminds me of a milder, smoother, and almost buttery Irish or English breakfast. My tea horizons are expanding thanks to Steepster.
Update: Second steep brought out some fruity notes. Interesting :)
Sipdown :( Super sad face here. This tea was absolutely delicious and I’m sad to see it go. Even more sad that it’s been out of stock at Boston Tea for a couple of months. I hope they restock sometime.
I did find the Bentley’s bagged version of this. It’s just not as good. It will have to do from now on.
I probably should have chosen my Scottish Toffee Pu-erh to complement my watching of Monarch of the Glen, but I wanted to finish up this last sample of the day :) I love this show & this tea!
Sipdown Sunday in effect y’all!
I have 3 more samples with just a couple cups worth of tea left. This is a favorite and a possible purchase :) It’s buttery and perfectly coconut-y. YUM!
Christmas decorations came down today. It’s always sad to see them go. If I had it my way, they’d be up all year. But honestly, I don’t want to have to dust them all.
Isn’t genmaicha fun? Liquid Rice Krispies!
