75 Tasting Notes

I was feeling overwhelmed by all the patient notes I have to write before I can get home, so I needed a distraction. I found a sample bag of this in the Republic of Tea sample box in my desk drawer so I decided to give it a try. I am pleasantly surprised by this little wonder. The rooibos blends nicely with the chocolate flavors. It’s not too “beety” either. Not sure I would buy a box of this as I am not a big “Red Velvet” person, but I’m glad to be enjoying it. If only it could write these notes for me….

This one doesn’t taste any different to me than generic black tea. Not a whole lot going on here of any interest. It’s what was available at work to help me with my Monday morning blehs

I confess, I am a recovering coffee addict. Although I haven’t had a cup of coffee in 3 months, my morning cuppa is still meant to serve a certain purpose that used to be served by coffee. That purpose is to wake me up and be a yummy vehicle for a decent helping of milk and sugar, as this is often my first breakfast of the day. I picked this tea up from TeaHaus yesterday, and it seems to fit the bill. It has a nice malty and warm flavor that holds up to the milk and sugar nicely. Not sure if it is a tea for purists, but it suits my needs very well.

drank Hibiscus Berry by Rishi Tea

This one started out pretty good. Hibiscus flavor without too much tartness, mixed with blueberries and a touch of currant. Strongly fruity leading me to think my kids might enjoy it sweetened and iced. I came back to the cup every few minutes as I was busy trying to get my kids ready for bed and the flavors changed. The currant flavor became much stronger and overpowered the rest as time passed (and it wasn’t steeping any longer). As the currant flavor takes over, I like it less. I’ll give it another try, but I’m unsure about this one.

drank Pear Mango by Ann Arbor TeaHaus

I was given a free sample of this today at Teahaus. The pear and mango flavors are nice accents to the white tea without overpowering it. Very light and refreshing. Can’t wait to try it iced!

I am a mother, wife and physician who recently discovered my long lost love of tea. I swore off all coffee at the beginning of this year and have been a much happier person ever since. I have a lot to learn about tea, but I am very enthusiastic!

So far, I like black teas, flavored teas and herbals best. I’m currently working on developing my palate for oolongs so that I can better appreciate their subtle complexities. I’d like to start getting to know matchas next.
