121 Tasting Notes
I love this tea and I need to buy more soon because I’m almost out! Mostly drinking this because I haven’t had any in a while but this week has been rough. I had a midterm, and another midterm coming up on Monday so I’m getting a quick in between break before hitting the books again. Because my brain has been always on and alert so far this week, I’m drinking this to see if maybe it’ll turn off tonight and I can get a restful slumber (please cat don’t wake me at 3am because you want attention).
I needed a pick me up that wouldn’t upset my stomach so bring on the pu’erh! I am getting more of the tartness and the licorice root now that I steeped this in my teapot vs. a mug. I still enjoy this tea quite a bit because I like my teas a little tart and not too sweet.
In other news, I’m having a hard time containing my excitement that another issue of East of West comes out tomorrow.
Ok this time I didn’t botch this steep. I steeped this with a conservative amount in my timolino before I headed off to class and it came out quite well! I think I need to add a little bit less than what is recommended on the label because this was a perfect balance of sweet and savory for me. No toothpaste taste this time around.
Another brief note because I’m studying.
I needed to go to my happy place as I work, and this sencha tea sends me there. It’s really mellow so I think those who aren’t big green tea drinkers may enjoy it, but I know everyone is different.
In other news, my friend in Japan is sending me green tea from her hometown and I cannot be more excited! :)
I must be more of a ceylon person than assam because for whatever reason, this tea doesn’t upset my stomach. I’ll have to look at the caffeine content for different black teas because I’m pretty sure that’s what makes my tummy unhappy. It’s the reason why I can’t drink coffee. I knew I needed some black tea for my morning because yesterday my cat woke me up at 6am and would not let me fall back asleep! It was Saturday, and during the week I have to wake up at 5am to drive to school. :( Cats are jerks. So anyway I had a very long slumber and I have studying to do for a midterm this week and needed my brain to be unjumbled immediately.
I didn’t add anything to my tea, so I’m not getting much of the creaminess but the pumpkin spice comes out quite nicely. I don’t know how Stacy does it!
I got a cup of this a year ago and never picked any up until now. It’s a good afternoon green tea. It’s light with a hint of pomegranate. I had no idea this had black and green rooibos teas blended in, however neither fight with one another, unlike Lupicia’s Happiness. I fancy this.
Brewed this one up to take with me to my night class in my timolino. It came out a little weak but still tasty. Brewing in a timolino can be tricky so I think next time I need to add in a little more. But for now I’ll can fantasize about burnt almond cake while sitting through audit (zzzzz…)
My first Pu’erh! I thought this type of tea would make my stomach turn like other black teas do but the person who helped me at Davids convinced me my tummy would be happy. He was also nice and brewed me a small sample to make sure I’d be ok drinking it. Brewing it again on my own and I can say I’m in love. So I’m a sucker for blood orange but this tea is very light and I enjoy the licorice root. It’s not a secret though that I do like tart teas with a hint of sweetness so this hits all the notes for me.
