drank Dirty Chai by Della Terra Teas

Wow, this is pretty good! I can taste the orange and cinnamon is powerful. The espresso beans add a depth to the flavor that I like. It reminds me of another tea that I had growing up and enjoyed. A touch of sugar was nice. Milk ended up making it a little less delightful.

I got this in a very generous swap from Chuckieroy!
It has been a long time since I have had pineapple (and I have never had pineapple upside down cake), but I think I can identify the taste and I’m not tasting any in this tea. What I do taste is caramel, which is lovely, but not pineappley as I’d expect based on the name. The tea is nice, but not grabbing me like it has so many others.

drank Chestnut by Lupicia

Thank you Mercuryhime for this sample!
At first, I didn’t get this tea. It just tasted like green tea with a little bit of flavor that I couldn’t put my finger on. As it started to cool, I could pick up on the chestnut taste. The more it cooled, the more I tasted. I do love chestnuts and the flavor seems pretty dead on with this tea. This might have to go on my shopping list to try some more!

This one sounds amazing

Dustin

It was pretty good. It had me fooled at first that it was a little boring, but I think with a little tweaking on the brewing I could get a better cup earlier on. I’d love to see more chestnut teas with other flavors. Citrus and chocolate?

Stephanie

I love nutty teas. Your flavor mixing ideas sound intriguing :)

Dustin

Now I’m looking through The Flavor Bible to see what goes well with chestnut! Raspberry and caramel? Looks like Lupicia has a few chestnut teas including this one with chocolate… http://steepster.com/teas/lupicia/5726-marron-chocolat

Stephanie

I’m putting that chocolate Lupicia one on my shopping list :D Caramel sounds great with anything nutty, really…

This stuff smells like a frosted lemon cookie! The first sip I took was a little too citrusy for me, but it mellowed out quickly. The taste isn’t as potent as a frosted lemon cookie, but the tea still holds some of that flavor I could smell when I opened the packet. It’s good and it is light, but it doesn’t quite captivate me. I like it, I’m not in love and I’d drink it again!

This tea isn’t really doing much for me. It smells pretty good in the bag, but I’m not getting much flavor which is disappointing. I put a bit of sugar in it and that brought out some taste, but not enough for my preferences. I’m finding I favor DT’s rooibos blends much more than the blacks.

The name says it all. It’s mellow, it’s mango, it’s peach. I’m not impressed, but it’s FAR from the blah that I have come to expect from peach teas.

Wow, did someone put out a campfire in my mouth?! Sat down with my tea at breakfast this morning and my husband said he smelled a fire. I casually told him it was my tea and he had to sniff it to believe me. Then I had to hear how it’s probably filled with carcinogens which is bad for you. I’ll just pretend he didn’t say that part. It’s so smokey! I like it!

I drank a Lapsang Souchong at work one time and got funny looks from people LOL

This tea is very similar to the Mudslide tea from Teaopia and later Teavana. It has a good balance of chocolate and banana (a little less artificial than the Mudslide tea) and without the yummy nutty flavor. I really like banana flavoring and I think this is a bagged tea worth my restocking.

drank Lemon Meringue Chai by 52teas

Backlogging:
I’m tasting cloves, cardamom and lemon in this tea. It’s pretty good on it’s own, but since it is a chai I’m going to try it with some milk. I think the milk tones down the spices a little, but doesn’t take the tea to the next level of yum that I was hoping for. I tried playing around with it a few more times, but it just didn’t grow on me any more than the initial cup. I wouldn’t turn my nose up at it, but it isn’t one I’d get again.

drank Earl Grey by Dammann Frères
1711 tasting notes

Finally getting back to the advent calendar! I think this is day 9? This is a really enjoyable cup of Earl Grey in what I’m guessing is the really well balanced soft black tea base of theirs that I have tasted before. It is just so smooth! The bergamot is present, but not biting. Nothing is overpowering anything else. I’m not a huge EG fan, but this may be the nicest I have had.

Bio

My name is Dustin and I like tea.

I’m an added flavor kind of tea fan, but have had a growing appreciation for plain. I want my tea to remind me of cookies and cakes with coconut and almond slices with a hint of chocolate drizzled on top. I want dancing ponies and flying monkeys shooting off fireworks! And no hibiscus. Hibiscus is the devil.
