1040 Tasting Notes
GCTTB
This is really outside my comfort zone, but that’s what I like about TTBs, getting to try things I would never buy or swap for. :)
This isn’t as rose/floral as I thought it would be. It’s actally pretty interesting. Nice woody, mineraly, dark oolong with just a hint of rose. Those flavors actually work pretty well together. I still don’t think I would buy this, but I’m glad I tried it. I’m putting the rest back in the box for someone else to try.
Because of my disappointment with the 2015 ZSXZ I thought I should try this one and see. This is MUCH better, maybe not perfect but more what I would expect out of a Jin Jun Mei. It’s still a little flat, and has more high notes than I really want, but there is some depth and some dark chocolate notes.
It’s been suggested that these might be “too fresh” and will be better with a little age on them. I’m happy drinking this now but I think I’m going to put all the YS 2015 blacks away for a bit and see what happens….
Sad, sad face….. :((
2015 is not a good harvest for this tea. It doesn’t taste anything like a Fujian black should. It’s thin, light, almost acidic. If handed this not knowing what it was, I would have put on a puzzled look and guessed Taiwan black, but not in a good way.
It’s just so sad. 2013 was AMAZING, 2014 was really nice, and this…..well isn’t.

Shangri-La Oolong – Majesteas
I couldn’t find this on their web site, or in the data base – so I’m nit sure what I’m drinking. I’m going with Sangria. A little grapey, a little fruity, a little wine ish – or maybe it’s nithing at all like that and I’m just experienfing what I think it should be. Either way, I really like this and would be happy to have more of it. Reallynice fruity oolong.

Sencha Guava Pineapple – House of Tea
I cold steeped this one over night, and wasn’t really happy with the results. There is something in here that I don’t like. Definately fruity, definitely green, and then something odd. I’m thinking that I’m not fond of the guava flavoring that they are using. Dunno but this one isnt for me. :(

I cold steeped this one for about 8 hours. It’s tart without being sour, its really lemony. A little candy like, but in a fun way. There is some green tea but really it just adds depth rather than being presant. I didn’t get any creamy but I only tried it cold. This is a fun tea.

This is similar to the other A&D tea I was drinking earlier. This one is quite grapey, a touch astriñgent, but not unpleasant. I wish this were a little bit heavier, a little darker. This is nice, but the Holiday Blend is closer to my tastes.

This is a really well balanced blend. It’s not anyone of the three. Light, fruity, touch of astringency but thick mouth feel and tons of flavor. Really like this one.
Very fine praise indeed for the most well-regarded tea company in the Mid-Atlantic region! Congrat’s Charles & Erik!
