516 Tasting Notes
I’m a fan of this tea, but not in the “buy now” kind of way. Also, I thought I rated it before but .. maybe I didn’t?
I had it a few times iced with the old $1 promotion (how I miss thee), oh I just looked out the window and it’s snowing like crazy. Okay I can wait for the next iced tea promotion.
Anyways! I think I prefer this one iced. I tried it hot from my advent sample, and it was alright, but as it cooled the walnut, almond and even pineapple flavours popped and made me super happy. Pop! Now I want a chestnut tea.
Anyways, I have to share, when I tried to get the tea out of the little container, my spoon hit something hard. I then pulled out a giant walnut, bigger than my thumbnail, a tiny brain! It was funny to me, even if I did get less tea because of it haha.
A note to friends with the 52Tea 12 Days of Christmas Sampler! I reccomend checking the bottom of the packages before you open from the top, I’ve had 3 that were slightly open on the bottom (including my one for Christmas day… I ended up dumping that one all over after I picked it up… Super sad about that. Whatever it is, it smells good! Anyways.). So yeah! I would check the bottom because sometimes it will open for you there, and I wouldn’t want you to do what I did. :(
This tea is AMAZING. Wow!
The dry smell is so true to the flavours (except to my workmates who thought it smelled like candles. Well.. maybe a rainbow sherbet candle? What KIND of candle? Bah. Anyways)
It smelled teeth achingly sweet – which is super exciting to me. If I’m going to do a dessert tea, I want a freakin treat. Man this does NOT disappoint! I get strawberry, orange and a lime tartness! I don’t know what else to say, it’s sherbet in a cup.
I tried with both milk and sugar, and a plan black cup. Both were delicious, and I would happily drink this plain, which is a rarity for my other 52teas black experiences. Cool huh?! I guess I’ll have to try this iced next… since I’m definitely purchasing this for my shelf :D
Thanks for the warning! The exact same thing would have happened to me if I had not read this. The last day of christmas tea was wide open on the bottom.
Thanks so much! : )
I’m almost out of this tea and that makes me a sad panda.
I didn’t think a coldbrew would work very well with the ingredients in this tea, but I was VERY happily surprised! The coconut flavour comes out HUGE in a coldbrew, and that’s my favorite :D
No soapiness at all, which I sometime get with this tea :( (cardamom’s fault? I dunno!)
So yes, very enjoyable and refreshing!
Upping the rating a tad. This was such a treat to try again, even though I have a huge bag of Earl Grey Cream from another company.,
This one is a bit unique in the EGC family. I’m getting a sort of marshmallow sweetness that makes me want to drink this tea forever and ever. Love.
Oh this is good!
I tried it hot, but it really needs to be iced.
Thank you 12 days of Tea Sampler :D
The smell is like candy, I want to eat it. I’m a huge fan of flavoured whites, and this one doesn’t disappoint, although I’m going to hold off rating until I try it iced.
I’m not going to rate this one, because I couldn’t finish the cup :(
The spices in this are spices I use in my homemade taco seasoning… so all I small are tacos. And when I brew it, all I smell are tacos. It doesn’t taste at all like tacos! But the smell is enough to turn me away. So! Keep an eye out when I’m ready for my next swap, because this one will be in it :)
This reminds me of the time I had exotica from David’s tea. All I could taste was Thai curry. Buy by my 5th cup or so, I was enjoying it as it was meant to be enjoyed.
Totally the cumin. Who puts cumin in a tea?? I can’t even handle peppercorns in tea usually. And I’m pretty sure I’ve never encountered a cumin-spiced anything in a Parisian patisserie.
It is a really odd choice! I use cumin a lot but am careful with it because I can find it really overwhelming. So I’m surprised I like this tea. I’m sorry you didn’t!
Oh SOOO good!
I wish I had more of this!
Earl Grey Cream of any sort is my tea of choice. Can’t wait to coldbrew!
I had one cup on it’s own, it was full bodied and creamy to the max. The bergamot was strong, but not sharp – still so smooth. Oh man. Almost chocolately it was such a treat. THEN I put irish cream liqueur and all was right in the world. Put me right to sleep like a baybeh.
Not the best coldbrew.
I love this one hot and on it’s own, it has a subtle raspberry and not much in the way of bergamot, but with a dash of cream and sugar it’s like fruit and cream, delish!
I think it’s too “dusty” for my coldbrew tastes though. Not a CB success.
I actually quite enjoyed this one today, but I think in the future I would save it for when I’m eating sushi or another light rice based meal.
This is what I love in a green tea, a roasty almost nutty flavour with a sharpness that reminds me of flavoured seaweed snacks.
I must have steeped with the perfect water temperature – no bitter. I feel like I would have to try hard to screw this one up actually.
Not one I would buy, but my sample will last a long while I think :)
When I bake something that called for 1 tsp of vanilla, I usually dump in about 2 tablespoons. I can’t get enough of that boozy delicious vanilla smell when I make cookies, or anything that calls for vanilla! Yum! But if I am ever silly enough to taste it on it’s own.. blech!
This tea is like fulfilling my Vanilla fantasy! The smell is so deep and rich vanilla that it is like drinking true vanilla extract, but it tasted good! Really good! Creamy and wonderful, I love the the oolong peeks out.
My first steep was only 2 minutes, so my second for 5 was still vanilla flavoured, but much less so. Still an amazing 2nd steep, but not enough flavour to keep me going for more.
Hahaha, I find it oddly hilarious that you got a giant walnut stowing away in a tiny container of tea. I’ll have to try this one iced soon!
haha I know right?! It was almost the size of the container, it was so huge!
braiiiiins!! (throwback to the zombies) hehe
Hahaha… Wow… I also immediately thought of zombies…
I think that I would have probably burst out laughing! : )
me to!! in fact, I am laughing right now ;)
Hooray! I approve of everything discussed. Carry on. :)
I had a large piece of walnut in mine too. So only enough for 2 cups I think in this sample from the advent calendar. Oh well.
And I thought of brains too.
I always ask the person measuring it to make sure that they don’t include the walnuts :)
