516 Tasting Notes
I would add this to my permanent collection if I could.
Thanks to LiberTeas for the sample! I thought it would be a good kick in the butt this morning, but it’s much more than that!
Smooth, not bitter, and sweet! A great whiskey aftertaste – but the sweetness of the whiskey. Great body in this tea. I’m drinking with no additions – it doesn’t need any. Although… I think it would be a great iced tea with a hint of sugar. And a splash of whiskey.
Um, can I say wow?
I’m bumping this rating up because of the iced factor. When this tea is iced, it is out of this world poifect. It’s just sweet enough, every flavour is accounted for, and the metallic apple weird flavour I got from drinking this hot is 100% gone. Gone!
I also made it into cookies. But I haven’t eaten one yet, so I’ll save that tasting note for later ;)
Wow, though. some seriously delicious pina colada flavour – but now I’m out! Must get a tin… tins. Tins!
I’m a little scared of this one. It seems reminiscent of Teavana’s pineapple kona pop, which I hated…
Me too Amy! Teavana’s was weak! I just asked Stacy at Butiki to create a Pineapple Oolong cuz she’s good with flavors.
hmm, well I haven’t tried that one, but this one is anything but weak. If you like pina coladas, it honestly tastes just like one!
mm this tea was just what I needed. My tummy hurts from trying to find happiness in sour soothers. Man I can’t kick them, bulk barn is my haven and sour keys are my drug.
But enough of them do not a happy tummy make!
This tea smells amaaaazing. The lavender is so soothing, and the rose buds are beautiful to look at.
The taste is wonderful – I haven’t had a good lavender tea in a while and this one is hitting the spot. There is a spiciness to this tea – not a pepper spice, but a cooking spice – like thyme almost. The taste is light but perfectly blended.
So so relaxing – my tummy feels better already.
Thank you so much for this sample LiberTeas! I’m very interested in this tea company :)
Hah I am the same way with bulk barn..but sour gummy bears are my drug of choice. No matter how much my tummy hurts I can’t. stop.
I have the same thing with bulk green olives from Bulk Barn??? Does that make me weird?! :P (I just avoid shopping there whenever I can, haha.)
Yes friends. It is that good.
If you look at my highly outdated profile description, you’ll find Pina Colada as one of my favorite flavours!
The smell is spot on. It even smells sweet! Coconut, pineapple, cream, I’m drooling at the smell itself.
Now – it’s 2:30am and I had one of those breakdowns tonight. One of those I have a worthless degree and am applying for the same job I could have got after high school breakdowns. So I thought, screw it, I’ll make tea and bread and who cares about sleep. It wasn’t coming anyways.
I’m drinking it hot and trying to tiptoe so I don’t wake up my boyfriend, who needs sleep super badly tonight.
There’s something about this tea that reminds me of forever nuts! I think it’s the sweetness of the apple, in a non-apple tasting way haha. You know, I’m not generally a happy person, but tea, and my friends (Steepster friends included) give me hope and genuine, natural happiness. So thanks friends. :)
Sharing tasting notes from all over is allllmost (not quite) like having the cup of tea together. I guess it’s more like sharing the same experience, in a different way. Something about that is very calming. This is much too philosophical for this tea, I should be drinking an oolong or something.
Wow, okay – how does it taste? Something in the blend is giving it a little sharp tartness, then smooth creamy pina colada taste sweeps in. It will be a perfect iced tea with a splash of rum and a little bit of cream. The flavour is light in the way Luscious Watermelon is light. It’s juicy, but not heavy. Refreshing, but with any luck, won’t leave you wanting. A nice tea.
Fabulous tea, isn’t it?
And breakdowns suck :( Hang in there… I’m sure you’ll get a job soon, then can pursue something more along the lines of your dream job. :D
I went through that breakdown myself while unemployed. Try not to stress over it. Just keep applying and thinking of your options. You’ll find something eventually. In the mean time, you have more time for tea. I miss having a nice gong fu session in the morning. :)
Also I totally want some of that tea you’re having! And luscious watermelon. Gotta stop by David’s soon. :)
I think it is so awesome that you made bread to prevent said breakdown. I’ve taken to making all our bread and I’m loving it. I have a BA, so can appreciate the feeling of useless degrees – I hope you can either put yours to work or at least make peace with the experience!
Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Fine Arts = the ultimate person? :)
Thanks wonderfuls, you are all amazing! We all lead different paths while drinking delicious tea along the way. More time for tea! You’re right.
mm So far I am very happy with the Summer collection! I’m a Swamp Water fan, and ready for another season of Luscious Watermelon, so bringing those 2 back was okay by me :)
Knowing the summer collection is being marketed as an iced tea collection, I had to try it hot first! har har, no really, I had to try it hot. See?
It’s raining! Cold and damp.
Although, this tea is freaking amazing and I can see how it would be delicious iced! Can’t wait to try it :)
Until it gets nice out, however, this tea is such a sweet treat. The strawberries taste real – like you made shortcake from scratch and sliced up some strawberries with a simple syrup on top real! It really comes out in the front of the sip. There’s a freshness there, almost tart but not quite.. but something akin to a real strawberry. Then there’s some awesome creaminess, and a smooth black tea base. Ah, yum.
Yummy yummy! I JUST placed my first DavidsTea order and was wondering if I should wait until reviews pop up about this tea. I’m happy I included it in my order after reading your review.
Pretty picture of the rain! Looks like the perfect time to drink tea.
I think so too :) I enjoy the rain – it sure does rain a LOT here in the maritimes, well, a lot more than I was used to in the dry prairies.
Looking forward to the summer collection, though more importantly, looking for summer. Might get a minor taste this weekend though! :)
@Daisy, it will stop raining eventually – historically May is a rainy month here in Hali. As long as we don’t have a 40 degree streak in August again, I don’t mind! : )
Yay we got to go to Dartmouth today, aka try not to die on the bridge and make paying the toll worth it by going to Lush and DavidsTea. :)
I brought my ice tea cup thing (yay I remembered!) and got this tea to go.
The mango flavour is spot on! sweet, fresh, juicy mango – full of flavour. The spice – wow. The kick hits you at the end of the sip – for me it’s even a bit too strong – but spice lovers would looove it. This is the kind of spice I wish was in the Chocolate Chili – I think it would go perfectly with something rich and deep like chocolate.
I can taste the green base – it gives the tea a certain texture that I think works perfectly. If it wasn’t for acid reflux plus killing my throat with coughs last time I got sick for over a month, I don’t think the tea would burn as much as it is haha. I’m getting the spice pretty strong at the back of my throat, a wee bit too much for comfort, so I don’t think I’ll buy any – but I will enjoy this cup!
Very unique – nice kick and a great treat. I think it would be great with tequila and some mexican food.
Banana Runts! In Matcha form!
I find myself reading about 52teas flavoured matchas with sadness because I missed them. This one for sure! SO I knew I had to try it from Red Leaf.
Oh my gosh I’m so happy with this tea. It’s totally a candy tea with sugar added, but I’m thinking of saving it for smoothies to add a sweetness without needing sugar… if that makes sense! Plus a green smoothie always makes me think it’s healthier. haha!
I don’t know yet! worse answer ever lol. I finally purchased a blender and tend to stick to smoothies in the summer (and it’s not even close to being hot here yet).
However, I think my plans are just a fruit smoothie with some matcha added. Maybe a smoothie with yogurt, ice, strawberries and a banana with some added banana matcha? I’ll have to do some experimenting for sure, but those are my plans so far :D
Matcha works in any kind of smoothie! Recently made a banana blueberry almond milk smoothie with matcha. Very tasty. Plan on doing a starwberry orange smoothie with mango matcha soon. ;)
Mmm Banana sounds great! I just placed my first order last week after reading your review of the Mango Matcha! Can’t wait for it to arrive!
guuuuh so good.
I got my new matcha in the mail yesterday YAAAAY!
Man I was so freaking excited!
This morning. Caramel matcha latte… I feel like i should have paid 8 bucks for this at a coffee shop or something. So. Good.
I should say, I got “Robust” flavouring because.. I don’t know! I knew I would love caramel and I wanted it in my face. I’m not disappointed, I’m very happy with my choice. I’m going to weep when this matcha is gone… but I bought 60 g so I should be good for a while ;)
Sounds so delicious!
Do you find you can still taste the matcha with the robust flavoring?
I don’t know which strength of flavor to try!
Thank you Teavivre for the sample!
This tea was very relaxing today. I even found it evoked some vivid memories in my mind. I didn’t find it as flavourful as other Bai Mu Dan’s I’ve tried, but I did find it to be slightly sweet, floral and meditative. The texture was silky smooth and delicate, yet almost syrupy.
I got 3 steeps out of the leaves, and although the caffeine content is low, I do feel energized in a very relaxing way. Like I could do a craft. I’m going to do a craft!
I have a full review on the way, I’ll post the link in the comments below when it’s finished :)
haha it is a lot! I’m just trying to get a base of stuff for people to read while I’m still unemployed – it’ll definitely cut down once a job comes my way!
oh PS I very much enjoy your blog on teatrade – pretty jealous of your proximity to so many different tea places :D I love the recent Vital Tea Leaf post, it made me laugh
Thanks! I will try to keep it going but will have to find other things to write about once I run out of tea places to review. hee hee!
How… did I miss seeing the fact that your blog was up and running? Oh right, my brain’s been pretty sidetracked for a week now. Thanks for the link and therefore reminder, and also for the new source of reading material (right, like I needed more at 11:40pm after a day of driving and field work and three hours sleep :P)
Gah why am I trying to review this tea now, Steepster is going soo slooow.
But it must be done! haha
The smell of this tea smells more delicious than any chocolate cake I’ve ever had. It smells like the richest, most delicious brownie. Dense, chocolatey, oh MOMMA that’s good chocolate!
Sadly it missed the mark in taste for me. Next time I will try twice as much tea as it calls for, but I wasn’t getting much flavour in this one either! I tried steeping one cup for 10 minutes, bu tit just got bitter (of course), so I sugared and milked it and it was ok :)
Maybe it’s the carob, or the stevia leaf, but there is a taste about it that reminds me of cardboard. Oh sadness! Just kind of.. watery. Darn!
Well now I’m craving a brownie batter blizzard.
I guess I buck the trend here? :P I feel like I should try it again to verify that I actually liked it!
If everyone liked the same tea, we wouldn’t get to try as much variety! There would only be a few tins on Davids’ Tea Wall :(
I suggest trying this with condensed milk. I know it’s not son healthy for you but it sure makes the cupcake tea delish!!!
Oh no worries about the healthy thing Daniella, I put condensed milk in tea all the time :D Usually when I have a half full can after I used the rest in a recipe. Half goes in my mouth with a spoon, and other other half gets to grace a tea. I will definitely try that with the rest of my bag, thanks!
I don’t see this one on their website! Anyway this looks like a great reason to visit Portland! :D
This was a limited edition tea that was not available on their website, only in their store.
