Opening the bag the tea smells similar to a roasted green tea. The brewed tea smells like popcorn. The tea has a heavy taste of toasted rice. Given what is in this that’s unsurprising. However it has an underlying sweet taste thanks to the green tea. The combination turns it into something like Cracker Jacks. Later steeps do a reversal and the sweetness takes over after the leaves wake up.

Very unique. Highly recommended

This is a pretty complex tea. The dry leaves in the bag smell exactly like chocolate and then the hot water hits the leaves the room will smell of it to. However when you taste the tea its shockingly complex. The chocolate is not the dominate flavor at all. Its floral and fruit in addition to the chocolate. Later steeps add a slightly roasted flavor as well.

Highly recommend this.

An interesting tea that is defiantly not for everyone. It starts off with a strong taste of cinnamon and as the steeps go on a lemon flavor takes over.

1st & 2nd Steep: The tea has a roasted smell. My taste buds find both cinnamon and a hint of lemon in the flavor. An interesting combination. The aftertaste is on the nutty side.

3rd & 4th Steep: The lemon flavor gets stronger and lingers with a bitter-like after taste.

5th & beyond: Bitterness gets laid on harder and dry mouth sets in after the sips.

Was a very interesting tea I will return to again in the right moods.

A very nice black tea with lovely malt notes with just enough sweetness to combat any astringency. The dry leaves smell of apples and berries. The wet leaves have a strong malt smell.

It starts off fairly mild but as the steeps go on the malt flavor builds. I noticed notes of caramel and mountain air sometimes. Around the 4th or 5th steep a little dry mouth sets in. Nothing bad at all.

This can be a nice daily drinker if you like a strong malt flavor.

This is a tea I’ve had laying around a long time. Don’t know when I got it. Might as well try it. The leaves in the bag don’t smell like anything special, just normal black tea. Brewing this in my gaiwan as usual.

1st Steep: I notice some flowers and mountain air in the flavor.

2nd Steep: A lot of astringency appears. Mountain air gets more intense. Lots of dry mouth left behind

Nothing changed beyond this. Not awful but can’t recommend. Lots of better options out there.

Flavors: Astringent, Drying, Floral, Grass

The smell of the leaves in the bag did smell sweet something like a yellow cake fitting the name. Brewed this one gongfu style.

I taste a slight sweetness and a bit of astringency at the end. Its an ok tea. Not really my style.

The smell of the brick is beautiful. Gives me strong hints of strawberry. Brewed this gongfu style starting at 30 secs and adding 15-30 each steep.

1st & 2nd Steep: These steeps give a smooth feel with no astringency at all. The flavors remind me of vanilla and berries.

3rd & 4th Steep: The vanilla becomes toned down a bit and a more floral taste appears. Still super smooth.

5th Steep & beyond: Floral taste gets stronger but the sweetness stays around somewhat. A slight astringency sets in as you get deeper.

This is absolutely one of my favorite teas and I can’t recommend it enough.

Was it hard to break? I am going to order this but I do not have all these fancy pu-erh needles and trays so if it is a toughie I would rather pass.

It was very difficult to break for me. Had to pull out some knives from the kitchen. In my opinion its so good I will be getting some needles and tools.

OK, thank you, something to think about. Especially since it is priced so reasonably.

I open up the wrapping and am unsurprisingly greeted with the scent of orange.

I brewed this gongfu style. 10 seconds + 10-30 more each steep.

1st Steep: Shockingly the scent of the tea is not that of oranges but of a very floral pureh. The sip brings a nice citrus fragrance to the mouth and lingers in the after taste. Other small tastes appear that remind me of jasmine and roses.

2nd-8th Steep: This steep came out a much, much darker red. Very floral still, however the citrus taste gets stronger somewhat over time. The other flavors like jasmine seemed to disappear quickly even though I extended my steep times properly.

I will give this another chance down the line. Maybe I brewed it wrong somehow? The first steep was fantastic, however the flavor disappeared quickly. Never had this issue before. Disappointing.
