The dry leaf aroma is strong, yummy peppermint with noticeable cocoa. Mmm! I’m excited to try this one! When I took the brew basket out of the cup four minutes later, my husband took in a deep breath and said, “Something smells good!” Haha, well it’s all mine! :P

It certainly is a fragrant tea. It’s filled the whole room with a lovely peppermint aroma. Wow, this is super strong! It’s mostly mint with chocolate lingering in the background and especially in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is cooling minty refreshment.

As it cools, there’s something rather bitter that makes its appearance. And the aftertaste is fairly artificial tasting now too. Sadly, I’ve found that many of DAVIDsTEA blends can taste artificial. It’s their fault for not using natural flavors. So I can’t say this tea is a complete winner. But it was a fun sample to try, if for nothing other than the peppermint patty potential and those sweet snowflake sprinkles! Yeah, alliteration!

Yes. The artificialness is often an irritant in DT. And the bitterness too. It’s a pity.

I agree as well with the artificialness. I’ve been having a discussion with my local tea shop owner about how I started out on DAVIDS, and while I still love them, their focus on candy/hibiscus/fruit teas etc is a bit disappointing.

I don’t have a problem with hibiscus or fruit teas. It is the artificial and bitter tastes I have a problem with, and they do seem to appear with the fruit teas. Also, I have a problem with their frequent artificial sweetenings of their tea. Unnecessary. Let people decide how sweet they want their tea and what kind of sweetener they want to use, if any, to sweeten.

end rant

Totally understandable, Evol Ving Ness. I agree with you- there should be less artificial flavours. I noticed people on their facebook page saying the same thing

Entering the sweet blissful world of tea aromas!

Having discovered this website at the end of July 2011, I’m so excited to share my tea adventures with all of you! I grew up with my grandmother serving Twining’s English Breakfast with cream and sugar.

But on a trip to Seattle in 2010, I stumbled into a Chinese teashop and tried my first oolong tea. I was forever changed! I embarked on a startling new love for green and white teas.

With a world of teas to discover, I was inspired to keep a tea journal to record my thoughts and new favorites. Let’s get brewing!

My ratings are completely subjective and 100% my opinion. All ratings are given in relation to each other (ie. teas are rated in the order of my enjoyment of them). Therefore, my ratings will constantly change as I try more teas.

I love swapping!!! If you see something in my cupboard you’d like to try, just send me a message. If you’d like to trade, anything on my shopping list will do or feel free to send something else entirely. I’m willing to try almost anything (although I’m not really a fan of honeybush, red rooibos, pu’erh, Lapsang Souchong, & banana-flavored teas).
