drank Raspberry Truffle by Butiki Teas

I’ve tasted quite a few Butiki teas over the past week and this is now my fave! The artful blending of rasberry, chocolate and excellent black tea makes for a superb cup! What impresses me most is that no one flavor ever dominates, somehow Butiki brought together three very strong flavors and made them cooperate until the last sip, remarkable! It has a great deal of natural sweetness so go easy on the sugar, but you can look forward to multiple steeps of sheer goodness!

Such a great take on Rooibos, this is one of my favorites! Each sip seems to bring something new, as the tea cools it expresses distinctly different flavors. It may be a little woody at first but give it a few moments and the ride begins, through the lavender to the coconut and finishing with the cornflower. A lovely ride from a lovely tea!

drank Maple Pecan Oolong by Butiki Teas

My first sip of this was so strong I didn’t want to take a second, however I’m glad I did! Be careful if you add sugar as this is already a sweet tea! It reminds me of a Tim Hortons maple glazed donut, so tasty!

drank Chocolate Monkey by Tealux

Thanks to cavocorax for sending this to my wife along with lots of other goodies today, it was such a nice surprise for a Monday! This is the second chocolate monkey I’ve come across so I was excited to compare the two! This version definitely has a better chocolate taste than the other I’ve tried, perhaps because the peppercorns are less pronounced. It’s a very smooth tea, great for a nice quiet evening at home after a long day. Very tasty tea, I could definitely see myself ordering some from tealux in the future!

drank Banana Dulce by Art of Tea

This is a very tasty Rooibos blend that I find hard to categorize. For me the dominant note isn’t the banana at all, odd given the name, but rather the chamomile and the coconut are the dominate flavors for me. It was actually a pleasant surprise since I don’t often care for banana flavoring in anything, much less tea. The banana is very restrained I think, opting to enhance the Rooibos and work with the other flavors rather than scream and shout on its own. Overall it’s a very good and well rounded tea!

This is a remarkable tea, one to be cherished and enjoyed slowly when you have time to tease out all it’s notes. The flavor is so complex I’m having trouble describing the experience, but it’s a sublime one. It’s been 10 minutes since my first steep ended and the flavors are still racing across my palette, as though 23 years of aging are just now catching up to my taste buds. At the front i noticed the smokey flavor first, but that quickly led way to the chestnut body with an almost coffee amount or depth and flavor, tailing off to a citrus finish that lasts quite awhile. Excellent tea, simply excellent!

Light, smooth and we’ll balanced… Those were my first thoughts after drinking this tea for the first time, and now that I’ve finished my second steep I stick with it. Caramel Vanilla Assam, the name is almost more complex than the tea! Those flavors certainly do come through, but never shout for attention. I find this to a great after dinner tea, a great way to cap off the day!
