You can really taste the chamomile! I find that the other flavours in this tea are a bit overpowered by it. There is a hint of rooibos, and a sweetness that I’m assuming is the caramelized banana, but for a tea with banana in the title, it’s a bit underwhelming.

It’s a very nice tisane, however, as a sweetened chamomile, and I did quite enjoy the cup I had. I just don’t feel it’s really a ‘banana’ tea!

Can’t believe I haven’t added a tasting note for this puppy, yet.

This is my favorite from David’s fall collection. I bought an extra 100 grams to stash away, knowing that this is a limited tea, and I only drink it now on special occasions to make it last. Anyone who wants to try Pu’erh tea but is a bit intimidated by the signature ‘earthy’ taste should consider giving this a whirl. It’s creamy, excellent with a dash of milk, and has an excellent coconut-chocolate taste that isn’t too much of one or the other. (what I mean by that, is that even a friend of mine who doesn’t usually like the taste of coconut enjoys this tea). The blend is, in my eyes, absolutely perfect and if there was a way to rate a tea higher than 100% I would!

It’s total yum.

Drat! Too bad this tea is only part of the fall collection! You make it sound fantastic!!! I wonder if David’s will have any remnants still lurking about? If not, I suppose I’ll have to wait till next year! Thanks for the review

Dorothy

@DecemberMint. If it’s still online you can still order some. If you live near a store, just phone ahead to see if they have any in stock. I’ve heard they can also sell you some if it’s out of season and you buy A LOT (I’m talking like a whole canister or something).

B

The David’s Tea on my street (this is why I’m always there, ladies) still had it when I went in on Monday, along with some of their other fall teas.

I’m looking forward to the two teas being released in December for Christmas.

Jaime

If there were a David’s Tea on my street, I’d be in so very much trouble.

B

I swear, I think I’ve paid the store’s rent at least once, now ;)

Meghann M

I agree with Jaime, I’d be very much in trouble if there were a Davids on my street as well:) I love reading your notes about their teas Beckara!

B

Thank you very much :)

David’s Tea! I am impressed.

I’ve tried three of their Holiday teas tonight, and each has been delicious and remarkable on its own merits. I wasn’t sure about ending the night with this, but now I’m glad I did! It’s perfectly sweet and cider-like. This was another tea that I loved to look at in the tin.

A bit like David’s Forever Nuts, with a nice apple-cinnamon edge to it.

I just read about this one on the David’s site yesterday … the anise stopped me, as I really don’t care for it, but I might buy a sacrifical amount to store in a clear jar just for looks. Do you taste much anise?

B

You know, I didn’t really. But then, I don’t hate anise, so I might not have picked it out as easily or as readily as someone who doesn’t like it. I’m going to drink the tea again today, and I’ll get back to you on whether or not I can taste it. I’ll look for it. But, seeing as it’s something with such a strong flavour, I’ll say that is enough going on in the tea that you won’t notice it.

drank Through the Grapevine by DAVIDsTEA

This tea smells like Welch’s grape jelly!

This tea promises delicious grapey-ness, and I can definitely taste it. It has a nice grape aftertaste too it as well. The white tea’s flavours are so light that, of course, they’re a bit overpowered by the grapes and other ingredients, but not so much that you loose the tea taste entirely.

I love looking at white teas in the tin. I don’t know why, but something about the texture of the leaves is something that makes me happy.

(Random fact: While writing this, a Welch’s juice commercial came on A&E! I think it’s a sign?)

drank Chocolate Chili Chai by DAVIDsTEA

At the suggestion of one of the girls at my local David’s tea. I had this as a latte! Like ‘Read My Lips’ and other chocolate teas, I do prefer them with milk, anyway. This tea tasted just like Lindt’s dark chocolate with chili peppers: that dark chocolate bitterness and a bit of a bite from the peppers!

It reminds me of a really great cup of hot chocolate! This will certainly be a new indulgence for me.

Paul M Tracy

You really can’t beat a chocolate/chili combo.

B

It’s the best! And the fact that it’s a tea? Extra good!

Michelle Butler Hallett

I started drooling when I read about this tea on the David’s site yesterday … now I’m convinced.

B

It makes me weep with excellence.

drank Orange Pekoe by Tetley

Oh, Tetley tea, what can I say about you?

This, and Red Rose are the teas that my grandmother swears by and all I have when I go for a visit (unless I want to swing by one of the 30+ Tim Hortons in Cambridge, Ontario). This is, I think, a tea I drink because I like the taste of milk and sugar. It has a bitter, if not boring, flavour on it’s own so it seems to need to be sweetened up.

However, although the flavour is nothing worth writing home about, it’s just what need to get me out of bed on a Sunday morning, or help me stay up all night when I have an unfortunate essay do the following day.

It is what it is, and that’s all that it is.

Edit: Had to bring the rating down a little bit more due to the tea pot full of this tea I just had. Added milk and sugar, but it did taste a bit like sweetened cardboard…

and/or kid’s breakfast cereal.

Which is essentially the same thing.

drank Crème Brulée by DAVIDsTEA

Something I love about Rooibos tea is that I can just leave them in the water forever and they never get bitter or overpowering. Which is great, because one of my glass strainers practically demands that the tea be left in. I got it from work! Part of my company designs promotional products for other companies to hand out—etc, and they recently got a sample for a double-walled glass tea strainer that companies can put their logos on. Because I’m the resident tea drinker it was given to me to test out! I love company perks when there is tea involved! (and the strainer isn’t too bad, either!)

This particular tea is great on its own, with lots of flavour and sweetness. It reminds me a little bit of Buttered Rum, by David’s tea. It has a similar taste, but it’s like it’s red tea cousin. Quite nice! I liked it, very much.

Mmmm, been tempted to order this. My local shop carries a caramel-infused red rooibos. I’m enjoying green rooibos more and more these days.

B

It’s true! I’m becoming more and more a fan of rooibos in general! I would def. suggest trying some of that caramel-infused rooibos from your magic tea shop!

LauraR

Mmmmm! Buttered Rum? Drool.

drank Comfort and Joy by The Republic of Tea

Based on other people’s reviews, which claimed this tea was quite weak I let mine steep until it was cool enough to drink, and I quite enjoyed it! The licorice is definitely there, with all the other flavours and to me it tasted a lot like minced meat pie which is certainly something that comes to mind when I think about Christmas!

It has such a strong taste, I thought, that it didn’t need milk or sugar, and I was quite happy with it. Perhaps they’ve changed the tea between last years release and this years? I don’t know! I thought it was tasty!
