96 Tasting Notes
Smells a bit like an Airwick ‘Apple Cinnamon’ air freshener, and I’m not sure that’s something I like in a tea. One of Zhena’s other rooibos teas was actually my first experience with red tea ever (And it was not a good one) so I was a little skeptical about giving this one a shot—but I’m glad I did.
I nice light, sweet taste! Reminds me of a nice hot apple cider! It’s a delicious herbal tea to unwind with while watching Hoarders on A&E! (which is my monday night ritual, do not judge me).
Preparation
I don’t think I can review this properly until I’ve tried a few different matcha teas, and played with brewing it a bit more because I’m very new to this! I kept a whisk in the mug and kept stirring it! I added a little bit of honey! I don’t know what’s going on!
But I know that I like it.
Preparation
Here is the thing. If I’m paying more for a bagged Earl Grey than I’m paying for Twinings, I always approach it with a bit of scrutiny. Earl Grey blends are my favourite! My absolute favourite, so I’m a bit of a hard sell.
Whenever I read labels with the words ‘delicately flavoured’ or ‘essence’ I should take that as a warning to mean ‘barely flavoured at all’.
The bergamot is there, but it’s more like it’s popping in to say hello than coming in for a long visit. This is a very nice black tea with a nice non-bitter flavour to it, and it’s quite nice dressed up with some milk and sugar. Not the best Earl Grey—but a very nice tea just the same.
Preparation
I might have rated this tea a bit higher, if it wasn’t so damn expensive! I was expecting more from a tea that was practically a dollar a bag and it did not deliver.
It’s essentially a basic, slightly bitter black tea. Some other people who’ve reviewed this tea referred to the vanilla flavour as delicate or an aftertaste but I think they’re just being generous! It’s completely non-existent! The tea smells a bit like vanilla, but I had to practically stick my nose in the hot water to notice it.
I tried it black and basic first, and then after reading a few reviews tossed in some milk and sugar to ‘bring out’ the vanilla. This did help! It made it drinkable and I’ll probably take the remaining tea bags to work and just treat it like a basic, black tea.
Not impressed.
Preparation
Hey I noticed you steeped it for 4 min 30 sec. You really have to be careful with that bagged tea stuff. It is cut up so fine that it releases the tea quicker, and also becomes bitter faster.
Seriously, this one time I opened a tea bag that came in a cute wooden box. And that stuff looked like pepper, not tea leaves! sob
