drank Citron Oolong by DAVIDsTEA

Yum?
Every time I have this tea I have to keep reminding myself: CITRON oolong. Not LEMON oolong. Sure, citron is the french word for lemon, but when you infuse a citron flavour into something you either use lemon blossoms (not common) or lemon myrtle (as done in this tea) not lemon peel. So the CITRON taste should be subdued and almost an undertone. And that’s exactly what it is. It’s not in-your-face-lemon, it’s subtle.

So do I like it? I think so. The bf LOVES it, which is why I bought it for my desk drawer stash. I definitely like it. I don’t know if it’s my favourite. But it’s not like I’m going to throw it out. That’s silly.

drank Luscious Watermelon by DAVIDsTEA

Just finished up this one yesterday and I’m disappointed I can’t get more (just like root beer float…). I should have KNOWN to stock up on it at the end of the summer last year since it was one of their seasonal teas, but noooo. Logic and reasoning out the window. I had changed my mind about not liking this tea on its own. It’s good. Really, really good. I still don’t taste real watermelon in it (sorry!), but I love watermelon candy and that tasted exactly like it to me. Maybe because there’s a strong honeydew undertone to it and I’m not a fan of honeydew. Yet I like this tea. Head scratcher.

If this ever becomes available again, I’ll be buying more. Until then…bye-bye, bag of Luscious Watermelon :(

Like another tea-drinker mentioned, I seem to like this tea a lot more than the average Joe. Tastes a lot juicier than most teas, and I find it’s especially good on dreary weekend mornings when you really need that extra kick to get going. Like having your morning juice and your morning tea all in the same cup.
Someone else posted they would rather just have Mango Madness; I also have that tea, and to me the two don’t compare. I don’t know what it is about this one (maybe it’s the green versus white tea base?), but while I also really like Mango Madness the two are not interchangeable, nor could one be replaced by the other. I’d like both, please! :)

Had my last cup of this one yesterday and I’m beyond disappointed I can’t get any more. This was by far one of my favourite loose teas. Isn’t that always how it goes? Find something you think you can’t live without then you have to learn how because they’ve discontinued it. Reason #1 why I don’t wear lipstick.

I love root beer, I love root beer more when you mix it with vanilla ice cream, I figured you can’t possibly go wrong when you make a tea out of it. When the tea is really hot in the cup I’m not a super-fan; the taste of stevia (which I’ve found out over the last few months I really don’t like) is over-powering. Once it starts to cool it tastes much more root beer-y and much less like stevia and YUM. Root beer float.

RIP Root Beer Float. :(

drank Honey Bee by DAVIDsTEA

I first tried this tea a couple of years ago in the DAVIDsTEA 24 Days of Tea calendar and loved it. I tried another cup of it again when it was one of their “teas of the day” and loved it even more. I bought it for my boyfriend when I made him his own unique tea Advent Calendar, and he loves it, too. So I finally bought some!
I almost find it hard to believe that there’s no actual honey in this tea. It smells so much like it! The taste, not so much. This is a good thing for me, since I’m actually NOT a fan of honey (or Agave) in my tea, so this makes me happy. It definitely does have a bit of the sweetness you would expect from honey, and also a bit of the flavour. But the rest of the ingredients blend so nicely that I don’t find the “honey flavour” too over-powering.
Will definitely refill my tin when this is gone.

drank Mango Diablo by DAVIDsTEA

To be honest, I don’t know how I feel about this tea. The bf loves it, despite claiming he hates mango. And this tea is wha-bam mango. Also spicy, but more of a throat-spicy and not tongue-spicy, as another “drinker” pointed out. I’m not a fan of hugely spicy food, and I still haven’t decided if this is over the threshold for me, yet. I’ll have to ponder it over some more.

One of the things that I did like is that despite leaving the ball of tea in my cup for far too long as per steeping instructions on the packet, there was no bitterness like you usually get with green teas. So that’s a major plus in my books; I usually forget about my tea for up to 15 minutes before remembering to drink it. Sometimes the bitterness gets too overwhelming to finish the glass.

This gets a “sideways thumbs”. I’ll have to decide after a few more cups if I like it enough to buy it again.

I have this tea every Wednesday, and until I saw the package I had no idea it had coconut in it. So it gets bonus points for being able to disguise coconut, but at the same time it’s bagged tea. I doubt there’s actually any coconut in it.

It’s pretty good. It doesn’t taste fresh and amazing like loose tea does, but as far as bagged goes it’s pretty good.

All I can say is “thank God I only bought 50 g of it”.

It was recommended to me after the guy working at the store overheard me telling my boyfriend that I loved the root beer float. He said if I liked that one I’ll like this one a lot more. Really? I can like something more than root beer float? Colour me intrigued.

The result: all lies. Blasphemous, ugly lies. I wouldn’t go as far as saying this tea is terrible, but it is CERTAINLY not good. An awful aftertaste (stevia?), and not a good taste, either. I couldn’t finish my cup.

I’m going to try adding it to my mate. Hopefully it takes some of the grossness away…

EDIT: Tried again yesterday afternoon. I thought maybe my taste buds were cranky in the morning because I was also hungry, and so weren’t giving me an accurate “reading” on the tea. Let’s just say they were being generous. I won’t lower my number rating, but it should probably be more like 10/100. Grossness. Anyone want about 42 g of Cherry Cola tea?!

I got it because I loooooove root beer floats. So I had high hopes.

I must admit, it didn’t meet my hopes. Sure, it tasted like a tea version of a root beer float, but it wasn’t a root beer float. I guess my expectations were a bit out of line. But it was good! Root beer-y, vanilla-y, yummy. I always let my tea cool a bit since my mouth isn’t a fan of hot liquids, and from the other reviews I gather it gets better as it cools. I would agree, but then again I don’t know what it tastes like hot. I would definitely buy it again.

Next up: cherry cola…

I love tea. And I don’t mean like “I like to drink tea in the mornings”. I mean, I LOVE TEA. I also have an intense love for spreading the news that plants and fungi are the coolest groups of organisms on Earth. If you’d like to learn why I think so, you should visit my blog. I write about one cool plant or fungus every day.
