drank Caramel Matcha by Red Leaf Tea
78 tasting notes

Oh Em Gee. I MUST HAVE MORE OF THIS NOW!
Seriously, I have Read Leaf Teas open and am setting up an order because damn, this stuff is good!
I have never had matcha before and I LOVE IT. I wonder what the base matcha really tastes like since the caramel in this is AMAZING and powerful and the smell omg…

So yeah. I ADORE this tea. Cheri thank you so much for sending this sample.
The only problem is I drank like 16 ounces of it this evening and now I feel WIRED.
Uugh… I avoid caffeine before bed and I totally didn’t think of this as a caffeine thing but I definitely feel it haha. Now that I know, I will try to only drink it earlier in the day.

The flavor is a rich caramel flavor and something else I can’t describe that I imagine is just how Matcha tastes. I made it according to the included instructions for a hot latte. I made it with warm milk and added a tiny bit of sugar. It didn’t need much. It’s sweet as it is. I looooved it so much. :)

So! Yes. Will be buying more. Will be careful not to drink it before bed haha :D

Flavors: Caramel

I really like Red Leaf flavored matchas. I haven’t done a hot latte yet, but it’s on my list of things to do with my belgium chocolate matcha. I also want to try a matcha soda (matcha plus club soda) with my amaretto matcha.

Mandy

I got a sample from MissB and it’s the best. And oh wow I have a soda stream to make selzer water and never thought of using it that way! Brilliant idea!

Arshness

All those ideas sound delish. I’ve been on their site wishlisting so many Matchas. CHEESECAKE MATCHA?? I must try!

Cheri

Cheesecake is good, too. I’m all out right now. I keep hoping it’ll go on sale again.

Arshness

Haha.. I added like 20 teas to my wishlist on that site. >_<
I love their reviews thing tho. I will use it to get many teas. nodnod
First I’m stuck on their sales because they have a sample sale for $1.49 but I could get a large for only $2.49 but I could get TWO large and one FREE small for only 4.99 but I could get TWO large and a FREE large for only 7.48 omg I am in so much trouble.

Mandy

Have you ever heard of how blending a frozen banana makes almost like an ice cream? I like to blend some of this with a frozen banana and make a caramel ice cream like treat (:

Arshness

I have heard of that. I wonder how it would work hmm. :)

Cheri

A lot of people add banana and have matcha smoothies. There’s someone else on here (name escaping me at the moment) who does mango smoothies for most of her matcha smoothies.

Received this today from Cheri ^^ Thank you again!

This Morrocan mint is more minty than smoky and I don’t taste the hints of the Gunpowder that I caught in the one that carol who sent me which arrived before this one. It’s a good taste but I’m missing some of the depth the other one had which I wonder if that has to do with the tea or the prep. I prepped the first one by means of how I read online to do it… simmered in a pot for like 8 minutes then added sugar in it and strained into cups. The second, this one, I prepped according to the bag’s instructions: 175 degree water, 3 minutes, added a little sugar and served. I think the more intense flavor was more my style. All I can really taste in this one is the mint aspect. It’s good but I liked the other more. :) Must try other cup of this with that prep method.

Flavors: Mint

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Cheri

Glad to see you got it. I don’t sweeten mine usually, and it ends with a really nice gunpowder…

Arshness

Do you usually steep it 3 minutes? The first one I got the water a bit hotter than intended and brewed it longer but I found the gunpowder taste was louder that way. GOSH the mint is tasty tho!!!

Cheri

I think I usually do one at about 2 minutes, and then another at closer to 3. I love the spearmint in this tea. It’s so good. It also cold steeps really, really well.

I love my Ingenuiteas (the 32 ouncers!) so so much. I bought one for myself, then later bought another so I could serve more than one kind of tea at a time since my sister and wife also like tea and we don’t always want the same one. Plus, 32 ounces is enough for 2, not 3. :)

I can’t rate this highly enough. These are the BEST infuser/steepers and they are fantastically designed. The first model did have an issue with the filter floating up and losing the tea into the mix, but the redesigned model is amazing and does EVERYTHING I want it to.

People often complain that the filter is not removable. It IS removable! It’s just STUCK TIGHT because they fixed the floating problem from the first model. Pull harder. It comes out. And every single piece of this thing comes apart for cleaning. You can remove the presser foot on bottom, the gasket ring that holds it in place, the filter, and even the lid! It’s top-rack dishwasher save, microwavable, BPA-free and kid-proof durable. I’ve dropped and knocked mine off so many times and it has no cracks, no issues, no broken lid hinge— not a thing wrong with it after a year and a half of constant use! It survived a freaking straight-line wind that was as powerful as a tornado! It survived being flung across the kitchen in that storm that broke my house. IT’S STURDY :)

Plus, I love watching my tea turn colors. I can see when it’s dark enough (for some brews this is important) and I just enjoy laying it atop a mug and letting it piddle out its contents into my cup. It makes me happy.

Go buy one. Buy two. Get the Iced Ingenuitea because it’s bigger. Love it. :) I know you will!

(Fyi Adagio has not remotely paid me in any way to love on this product. I just love this product so much. If you have never ordered from Adagio tho, I can totally send you a $5 giftcard for free to get you started. This would make a great first purchase. I would get frequent cup points if you took me up on that. Full disclosure complete. :) )

Delicious! This is a first time for me! I’ve never had Morrocan Mint of any kind and I rarely taste a green tea I like. Wow! This is delicious. :) The mint nose is so delightful and the gunpowder hits on the tail for a nice spicy finish. I really enjoy the whole flavor.

I did overheat the water… I looked up how to online for a Morroccan mint since I didn’t know what I was doing and it said to simmer it in a pot for 5 minutes. I let the water get too hot so it came to a boil and I reduced it to a low simmer. I can tell that added a slight bitter afternote, but the mint was so strong I could barely taste it. Next cup will be made more carefully and I will see how it affects the taste.

On this, I think I could do with the Gunpowder being stronger. I want to now taste gunpowder by itself. That is an interesting tea. :)

I drank it with a bit of sugar and it was delightful. Wanted more :D

Thank you to Carol Who for including this in her sample pack she sent me. ^^ So sweet of you! I adore it!

I rated this 79 because while I think I would buy more of it, I’m going to sample a few more Morrocan mint teas before I select a variety so I’m not sure I’ll buy it yet.

drank Almond Oolong by Adagio Teas
78 tasting notes

I enjoyed the almond flavor of this tea. I really could taste the sweet nutty addition.
I am not sure I’m familiar enough with Oolong yet to really understand what it was meant to taste like in general. The Almond part was really what shined to me. I drank this tea with just a little sugar and it was delicious. I’d definitely drink it again. I would even go for a stronger Almond flavor than this. Now I’m really wondering what other Almond teas exist. :)

Ironically, it’s not the one you sent ^ It’s one my friend Becky sent me. I just got your package out of the mail! Ee ^ I’m so excited about this one!! ^
There’s a ton of stuff I can’t wait to try. Hardest question: WHAT TO TRY FIRST :D Thank you again for sending teas ^ You have lovely handwriting btw!

I realized I haven’t reviewed Apple before despite it being in my top 5 teas.
I absolutely despise that Adagio chose to discontinue this tea and I have no idea why they would make such a move. It was highly rated, used in tons of custom blends that were popular and frankly it’s delicious.

This tea with a little cream and sugar makes for the flavor of apple pie in my cup. What is not to love?

That said, I still have most of a pound I bought before it was out of stock forever and I’m drinking some tonight because I decided I wanted to make some bubble tea.
So I mixed up a strong batch (5 teaspoons in my 32 ounce Ingenuitea) and brewed it 3 minutes then let it cool. (I’m pretty sure I accidentally oversteeped it just a bit, but I couldn’t tell in the end so whew!)

I poured about half the cooled tea in my shaker, added more sugar than I’d like to admit (because this is a treat damnit), warmed some milk in a cup in the microwave, added about 8 ounces of milk, and then added about 4 ounces or so of sour apple flavor liquid (like you use in Alcoholic drinks).
Next I shook it up until frothy, then poured it into a prepared tall glass into which I’d drizzled caramel syrup along the sides and especially around the rim.

Voila! DELICIOUS caramel apple bubble tea. Mmm. So refreshing.

I know, right? I was surprised that the tea had such a low rating on Adagio’s site; it was really, really good!

Arshness

Still a favorite. I hate that they discontinued it :c I begged them in multiple emails not to!

Orphia

While not perfect, I’ve found a decent substitute in Ahmad’s Apple Refresh tea. It’s pretty good for a bagged tea, but in my area at least, not so easy to find.

Arshness

I still have a half pound of Apple tea fortunately. Some time still but I will miss it when it’s gone.

drank Rivaini by Adagio Custom Blends
78 tasting notes

Wow. I didn’t know what to expect going into this tea. I gave a glance at the ingredients and thought, “Hmm. Latte.” And so I mixed it up as such.

The tea’s aroma reminds me of spice cake. It’s sweet and full of sweet spices. It smells DELICIOUS. Like I really want to eat a spice cake now. The taste is just as good. A medley of sweet spice mixed with a hint of something else. I can’t quite lay my finger on the other mingled tastes. It’s mostly a delightfully light chai with a particularly cake-y flavor. The aroma is so delightful I could just crawl inside it and live there. I seriously want a Rivaini candle now.

So, yes, I recommend and yes, I’m going to have to buy some of this tea. It will be the first fandom blend I purchase from Adagio because I MUST have it.

I liked this! This was my first Honeybush! After Rooibos made me ill with memories of childhood medicines, I didn’t think a near-sibling would be my cuppa if you know what I mean! I was surprised. The first thing I noticed when I opened the bag was the hazelnut aroma which is delicious and warm. The scent that astounded me was when the tea was brewed and poured; a sort of indescribable “woody” scent that reminded me of cedar, only not cedar… just another similarly potent WOOD smell. It was delightful and strange. I sweetened the tea a little with sugar and sipped on it warm. It was delightfully light, sweeter than I expected which means the tea has a natural sweetness to it, and full of hazelnut flavor. This was a really nutty, woody, deliciously sweet tea that I will put less sugar in next time! Will buy some as my sample had only 3 cups worth, and I will definitely have need of more!

Wooo! This is one of my favorite teas, but maaan I made a mistake preparing it today.
I’ve been noticing several of my older teas were tasting weak so I started adding in extra tea to make sure there was good potency for each. Low and behold, I have found one that is certainly still good. >_<

I put too much tea to water in this and the tannin made my mouth cry.
I couldn’t finish it.

At least I know my Birthday Tea is still good.
However, it did raise a disappointing situation. My tea storage methods are not good enough.
My teas that have been stored a while are mostly in cheap tins. They are mostly old tasting now. The Birthday tea has been in its original resealable Adagio package this whole time and it still tastes fresh. Oh dears :c I guess I’ve learned the hard way about needing good quality tea tins. But how to afford such things in this economy you know? Yuck. >_<

Anyone recommend good quality tea tins at a decent price?
Bonus points if pretty, especially blue :D

Enjoying Tea has some good tins actually, and pretty cheap. I just bought some from them. (:

drank Cancer by Adagio Teas

I am just not much for Adagio’s green or white teas. They all taste like leaves and grass to me. There’s a sharp, astringent taste to this tea, like every other Adagio green or white I’ve tried. I didn’t really notice the other flavors. It was hard to take more than a few sip of this one.

Bio

Loves tea, reading, music, art, video games, roleplaying, and spending time with her wife and daughter. :)

Ask me for a $5 gift cert to Adagio if you’ve never ordered from them!

As for tea, loves flavored black teas, herbals, and good lattes most. Green is hit or miss with me and I haven’t found a white I like yet. I like my tea sweet, no matter how much some tea connoisseurs turn their noses up at me for it. I love trying new teas and I’ll try anything once!

I noticed this elsewhere on the site so I’m going to post a ratings legend as well:

95-100 Favorite; This is one of my favorite teas. I will want to keep this in stock all the time. I will drink a lot of this tea. I’m likely to send samples of this in swaps because I LOVE it and want to SHARE my love of it with you!

90-94 Excellent; Some of the best teas I’ve tried. Delish. I will probably buy more.

80-89 Very Good; I liked it and would like to have it again for sure. I will surely buy it again at some point. Not quite “The best” of any category, but some good stuff to be sure.

70-79 Pretty Good; Maybe it’s just not quite my type of tea or not quite my flavor, but I acknowledge that it’s a good tea. I might drink it again if the mood strikes me. Not very likely to buy it again. May still recommend it to others based on their tastes.

50-69 Okay; I probably won’t buy it again, but will probably finish drinking what I have. It’s not bad. Not good… but not bad. I probably won’t recommend it.

50 or less Meh; I didn’t really enjoy this tea. I won’t buy it again and can’t recommend it.

10-0 I must have really, really hated this tea. It may have killed my puppy or absconded with my cheesecake. I’m pretty sure it killed Professor Xavier.
