894 Tasting Notes
Dry leaf is light in colour and slight vegetal smelling. Steeped for 3 min, this has the pungent, spicy notes of a Darjeeling. Slightly drying part way through the cup. Tangy on the finish.
Pleasant but not a stand out.
Okay, actually, by the bottom of the cup, super astringent. Like, go brush your teeth and rinse with lots of water kind of dry mouth coating feel.

Yup, soybeans, vanilla, toasted rice and a wee bit nutty. I often don’t get the same notes that Verdant describes on their site, but this time it was pretty dead on accurate for me.
I think I like this. It’s a bit odd, but good odd. I didn’t realize that this had a green base when I put my kettle on, so I ended up steeping in in 90C water and it was delicious and smooth.

A lovely, generous sample from Kaylee.
As seemed to be the consensus in the forums, Basilur isn’t the highest quality tea, but this is actually really pretty and tasty. The black base is just kind of there, without contributing a lot to the flavour, but this is a really different take on Earl Grey, with bergamot, vanilla, light chocolate and citrus notes. It’s quite smooth and the flavour and mouth feel are a bit creamy.
I’m not sure I’d ever want 100g of this, even for the really cool music box tin, but I’m definitely enjoying the sample I got.

I had some work booked for early this morning, so I made up a cup of tea that I knew would be delicious and reliable, and it was.
Then just after 9am, they started testing the fire alarm. Which has been going off every five minutes for the last two hours. So I’m a bit grumpy and I had to reschedule some of my day.
I’m feeling kind of thrown off, but with moving in a week, I’ve got a whole lot of stuff to do, and I can’t just write off a whole day because of a fire alarm.
Flavors: Malt, Sweet Potatoes
I got a lovely package in the mail from Kaylee that was packed full of unexpected samples, this lovely gem among them. I really love lavender and this cup was the perfect way to wind down last night. Well balanced peppermint and lavender flavours, with just a touch of sweet and creaminess to smooth things out. Delicious!
Flavors: Creamy, Lavender, Pepper, Smooth, Sweet
Preparation
A pleasant green with nut and honey notes. A touch of astringency.
The steeping recommendations for this are 3tsp, 4-5 min. I feel like that would be unpleasantly strong – I used 1tsp for 2.5min.
Flavors: Astringent, Honey, Nutty, Vegetal

On opening this packet, I was really excited to be greeted by a fragrance that reminds me of my beloved Blue Mountain Twirl. Grape and malt. This is a bit less sweet and malty smelling than BMT, with an extra spice note, but it’s pretty close. That’s super exciting!
The flavour is very reflective of the smell of the dry leaf. Grapes, malt and spice. The comparison to BMT also holds true in the flavour.
All in all this is a fantastic Nilgiri, and a very passable substitute for BMT. I am pleased.
