drinking this time w/ milk & honey. i have the flu. the tea seems very soothing right now on a parched throat. i suppose the honey overwhelms the taste of the Assam & my tastebuds are wonky, but right now this feels like the best panacea. there are some good things in the universe after all…

steeped for four minutes, added a sugar cube & a wee dollup of milk. tastes warming & creamy. not as strong as Irish Breakfast but gives you a good morning jump start to your day.

this is my first steep. it’s got a very delicate flavour. i’m trying it black so i can taste it without any other influences. it’s got a bit of a sweet aftertaste. i steeped it for only three minutes. am glad it has durability & am looking forward to trying it for several more steeps. thanks to Kimicha for including this tea in my May/June package. i never heard of it before & love being exposed to the new.

i can definitely say it’s tastier by the third steep. it has more depth. i can taste a bit of smoke now.

2 teaspoons, steeped for three minutes in an 8 oz mug. a very gentle taste. it’s not a tea i’d drink often, but if someone wants a tea conducive to the creation of a calm environment, this is a good choice. it’s light & therefore makes for a good after dinner tea, especially if you’ve eaten a big meal (such as i did tonight: roast beef).

again, not thrilled with this either. the main taste is bitter, even when the water is heated but not boiled. there is a nice coconut taste, no mango taste at all & very slight hint of vanilla.

a very light chocolate taste followed by a hint of coconut. i’d expect something called truffle to be a lot creamier tasting. milk & honey helped flavour it up a bit. for a brand called tea forte, forte meaning strong, i don’t think it’s living up to its name.

apparently contains some caffeine. it’s very minty, even spearminty, i’d say. steeped for 3 minutes at near boiling. i think it could have been set at a lower temp because the bitterness is there a bit. it’s ok. so far i’m not that impressed with Tea Forte. the teas are nice, but don’t have that extra oomf of flavour i crave.

part of a set of three coconut teas; lovely coconut aroma. steeped for 5 minutes, tasted w/o milk or sweetener & found a wee bit bitter; added milk & honey & it’s still a wee bit bitter. shall have to steep it for less time in future. all flavours are very subtle. licorice & cinnamon stand out a bit more than anything else with the coconut being more of an aftertaste. i’ll try again another time, heating it up directly with milk in a pot. that might bring the flavours out a bit better.

finally found boxes of this tea again after eons of going without. this is my morning must-have. i steep it for 6 minutes usually & take it with one sugar cube and enough milk to turn the tea a caramel colour. it remains my favourite tea, especially in the mornings. it’s strong & tastes right. growing up in a British family where tea was steeped in a Brown Betty tea pot for ages has left me needing strong tea. this Irish Breakfast fits the bill nicely.

2nd time round, this time i steeped for only 3 minutes; followed the directions to the letter, putting the leaves directly into a tea pot & straining. yes, it was much, much better. no trace of bitterness, just a good substantial cuppa. i’ve always used those tea balls or some kind of in-yr-cup strainer. never occured to me to use this right-in-the-pot method before. revelation!

i write. i drink mostly loose leaf. love strong black teas such as Irish Breakfast or Lapsang Souchong, but can also enjoy a good roobios or green tea. have recently discovered White tea & oolongs. love the variety tea offers. it’s inspiring for writing.
