2284 Tasting Notes
This tea turned out super mild. I taste an intermingling of ginger and mint, but it’s not spicy. I don’t taste the white base at all. I would have guessed that it’s an herbal tea, in fact. It’s just a little too basic and mild to have again. Thanks for sharing tea-and-cats!
The lemon and honey combine to make a nice gentle tea. It’s not sour at all, and I also don’t taste any ginger. There’s some sweetness from the licorice. It all combines in a really soft, pleasant way. I’m drinking this cold, and I really wouldn’t mind some more if I come across this one again. The reviews for this one are brutal and in my opinion undeserved.
I absolutely love the pineapple flavor that August Uncommon uses in their Big Easy tea, and I taste a similar flavor here. Unfortunately, it’s overshadowed by tons of black pepper flavor. This blend is supposed to be spicy, but the spice element here comes really just from the black pepper. So I wish there could be more pineapple, less black pepper, or maybe just more complexity here. Pineapple plus pepper isn’t great for me. It’s like eating a stir fry with pineapple in it or something. I actually enjoyed the resteep more because the super fruity sweetness had faded and it was just the savory pepper with a more savory cooked pineapple remnant. The second time I had this, I tasted mostly pepper with only a hint of pineapple, which was just too savory for me. This tea is definitely interesting, but it’s not really for me.
I taste a lot of fruitiness, but I don’t really get any ice cream element. It’s a softer sort of black tea, not adding too much. The mango flavor is pretty strong, but I end up feeling pretty neutral to it combined with the black tea. I guess I wish there were more going on here rather than just a mild fruity black tea.
I taste jammy red fruit and coconut. It’s mild, but pleasant together. It tastes lovely cold with sweetener to bring out the flavors. The flavoring in here doesn’t quite taste like ice cream, but maybe sort of like spray cream? It all goes really well together, and it stands out from other fruity teas. It’s definitely lighter and less tart, but it doesn’t feel too thin or anything. The resteep is pleasant too.
I enjoy plain rooibos sweetened cold, and this one does the job. I never bought any from DavidsTEA because I always gravitate toward more exciting flavors, but I’m happy to find some in a recent TTB. Actually, I like this one best with milk and sugar. The resteep is good too. It’s not the most amazing, clear rooibos ever, but it’s good enough.
I taste the apple and some caramel, though it’s not too sweet. It’s mostly apple and doesn’t need milk, but is better with sweetener. I wouldn’t really choose this again, but the apple is quite authentic and clear. I would have enjoyed a stronger caramel though. Thanks tea-and-cats!
This has a pleasant amount of lavender in it so that the flavor comes through pretty clearly. I also definitely taste some honey. The rooibos base doesn’t have any negative or weird flavors. I’m drinking this with almond milk, and it all tastes pretty desserty and nice. Pinky Up doesn’t seem to make teas that are as complex or sophisticated as other brands, but I’m satisfied enough by this one.
Another sample from the TTB. This is very fruity, but not as special as I was hoping from a passion fruit tea. The fruit doesn’t taste generic, but it does taste a bit perfumey and not super clearly passion fruit. I think the base tea was a bit floral for me too. Overall, it wasn’t a great tea, but it wasn’t terrible either.
