2303 Tasting Notes
I enjoyed this tea a lot more than I expected. I couldn’t really taste the white tea (there was a lot less of it than in the picture on the website). It mostly tasted like a light apple juice. I think the chamomile was a great choice and perfect pairing. I only tasted a hint of the cinnamon. It’s not special enough to order, but it’s definitely refreshing. I preferred this one hot – it was comforting and well-balanced. Once it cooled, I tasted more white tea, which I don’t personally prefer. I made a cold resteep of the leaves, which ended up with almost a caramel apple flavor.
I love apple and chamomile together. (Although, based on the Brutaliteas reviews I’ve read, that sounds like a very mild-mannered flavor and name choice — unless there’s a pop culture reference I’ve missed!)
I just noticed that Harney has a Disney line now, and the one I am most interested in is a white apple….Snow White Tea, of course!
Apple and chamomile sounds like a delicious combination. I always have straight chamomile but this inspires me to blend it with one of my apple flavored teas.
My boss brought me back this tea from a work trip, which was really sweet of her. The main flavor here is black pepper. It’s a pretty standard chai with balanced spices and a nice kick of heat. It doesn’t need much sugar since it’s already a little bit sweet. I’m enjoying it with milk, and the rooibos is a hearty enough base that I don’t mind there not being any real tea here. The resteep was basically as strong as the first. I think I would order this for myself.
This one gets terrible reviews, so I didn’t have high expectations. It tastes overwhelmingly like licorice root, which is a flavor I usually enjoy, but not as much in this context. The next flavor I taste is ginger. It has a lot of natural sweetness. It’s not a very hearty chai, more like an herbal bagged spiced tea. Its flavor is sort of weird and not entirely pleasant. I’ve tried mixing it with other teas, but it still shows up too strongly for my preference.
This has a familiar flavor from another 52teas blend I remember enjoying, though I don’t remember which. I really don’t taste any cherry or fruitiness, but I get a nice sort of baked spice flavor. Really the strongest flavor I taste is the honeybush base, which I enjoy, but I wish the flavoring were stronger.
Grabbed from a TTB. The black tea had decent depth, but I’m not a fan of the inclusion of puerh here because I don’t personally love that fishy profile, and the flavor is pretty strong. It’s not strong enough to make me stop drinking, but I certainly wouldn’t choose to have it again.
This is pretty typical of many apple spice tea bags. It’s a familiar flavor, but not an exciting one for me. There’s a bit of a weird flavor outside the apple, cinnamon and other spices. I drink this warm, sometimes with milk and sometimes without, but it’s sort of a strange one.
