2301 Tasting Notes
I super oversteeped this, but it turned out just fine! It’s a little tart and fancy, but mostly fruity and refreshing. There’s a hint of herbaceousness in there too, though I’m not sure which ingredient is the culprit. I got this from a Sips By box, and it’s certainly one of the better lemonade-inspired teas I’ve had. The herbaceous flavor works with the tart fruitiness. I’d consider purchasing more.
52teas really knows how to do maple teas. They’re always excellent. Here, there’s a perfect combination of delicious authentic maple and also roasted rice. I enjoyed this with sugar and milk. The resteep was basically just the toasted rice, which is perfectly nice. I don’t taste much coconut, which I’m fine with. I accidentally got my teas mixed up and totally brewed this wrong one time, but it was thankfully super forgiving.
There’s something about this tea that I really didn’t enjoy when I first had it, but I’ve come to sort of like it. I taste a candy-like banana that’s pretty nice. I think I don’t like the base tea very much, and maybe there’s something adding an unnatural/weird sweetness? I taste some sweet cinnamon, but there’s nothing bready or baked here. It’s all sort of fake and strange, but not terrible when you add milk.
This one is quite intriguing. Thanks for sending a sample my way, getanzt! I don’t usually love hojicha, and this one smells as overly toasty as ever. However, the flavor is way fruitier. Apparently this is supposed to taste like Japanese pumpkin, which I’m not sure I’ve had before, but I could imagine this working. I also taste a burnt toasty flavor that I don’t love. I wish I could have the fruity pumpkin flavor without that burnt taste. I ended up sharing the mug with someone who didn’t like it either. Maybe a hojicha fan would enjoy this though.
I don’t like Adagio’s cherry flavoring, but I still grabbed a single serving of this one from the last TTB because I do love marzipan. Unfortunately, the cherry really dominated the flavor. I didn’t taste any marzipan, and the oolong base was pretty thin/nonexistent. Oh well!
I overleafed, but this was still pretty weak and mild. The tree leaves that went in were adorable, and they do add a little bit of tree flavor, which I really enjoy. The black tea was just too mild to support it unfortunately. I’ll try anything tree flavored, so this was fun to find in the last TTB.
Grabbed a sample of this from the last TTB. The content is mostly fluffy sage. The flavor is surprisingly more thin and mild than I expected. I would definitely overleaf if I had enough for a second cup. I taste the sage and a bit of smokiness, but the tea base is a bit weak to my tastes. It’s also a bit more savory/herbaceous than I prefer, but I do find the idea of this one to be fun.
When I had this at St James, I thought the spices were pretty clear and strong with some sugar and milk. I tasted clove and maybe ginger and some other things. The rooibos base was perfect. They gave me a sample of this to take home, and I didn’t enjoy it quite as much – I guess they’re better at brewing tea than I am? At home, it was a little thin and I tasted something almost like turmeric. The spices also weren’t quite as strong. Still not a bad herbal chai.
